Fulham vs Crystal Palace prediction, odds and lineups

Prediction markets make Fulham narrow 42% favorites, but their lack of cutting edge and Crystal Palace's underlying chance creation point to a close game.

Fulham vs Crystal Palace prediction

Both teams arrive without a Premier League point. Fulham followed a lively 3-2 defeat to Chelsea with a flat 1-0 loss at Sunderland, while Palace have conceded six goals across defeats to Everton and Manchester City.

Those records look equally grim. The performances, though, may provide some encouragement: Palace created enough to trouble Everton, and Fulham have already shown a much higher attacking ceiling than they managed last weekend.

This is narrow favoritism, not a confident home verdict. Fulham sit only 12 percentage points above Palace, while the away win and draw are effectively level. The market sees all three outcomes as credible.

Fulham's case begins with home advantage and Palace's unsettled defense. Maxence Lacroix and Daniel Muñoz have left, Chadi Riad was carried off against Everton, and Pierre Sage changed the right side and one center-back for the 4-1 defeat to Manchester City. That is a lot of disruption for a side still learning a new manager's demands.

Gonzalo García scored against Chelsea and AFC Wimbledon, while Josh King was also on target in the league opener. Fulham have enough attacking quality to test that unfamiliar defensive unit.

But Fulham's performance at Sunderland makes 42% feel appropriately cautious. They had 58% possession and 11 attempts yet failed to put one on target in a 1-0 defeat. The structure produced control without incision, and the same front four that troubled Chelsea found very little space against a more compact opponent.

Palace can make this awkward in similar fashion. Sage has retained a 3-4-2-1, with Adam Wharton able to release runners quickly once possession turns over. Palace lost 2-0 at Everton but generated 2.04 expected goals, with Eddie Nketiah and Jean-Philippe Mateta both wasting excellent chances. Nketiah also tested Manchester City early, before City's quality pulled the game away after halftime.

That's important. Palace's zero points do not mean they have created nothing.

Fulham deserve the narrow edge because they are at home and Palace's defensive and attacking personnel remain unsettled.

Still, the clearest route to an away win is easy to see: frustrate Fulham's buildup, attack the space behind their advanced fullbacks and trust Wharton to find Nketiah, Yéremy Pino or Jørgen Strand Larsen early. The lean is Fulham, but only just.

Premier League 26/27 predictions:

Fulham vs Crystal Palace odds

  • Fulham win — 42%
  • Draw — 29%
  • Crystal Palace win — 30%

The market gives Fulham a meaningful home edge without separating them decisively from Palace.

The away win sitting one point above the draw is telling.

Palace are not being priced merely as a side capable of spoiling the game; their transition threat gives them a credible route to taking all three points.

Fulham team news

Arbeloa has started with a 4-2-3-1 in both league matches. Bernd Leno has played behind Timothy Castagne, Calvin Bassey and Antonee Robinson, with Joachim Andersen returning from suspension to replace Jorge Cuenca against Sunderland. Sander Berge and Alex Iwobi have formed the double pivot, while Bobb, King and Palacios have supported Gonzalo García.

That continuity clarifies the hierarchy. Fulham made 10 changes against AFC Wimbledon, then restored the league XI at Sunderland. Shea Charles, Emile Smith Rowe and Rodrigo Muniz are pushing from behind rather than established as first choices.

There is a genuine decision in attack. Smith Rowe and Muniz scored in the cup, while the starters produced no shot on target at Sunderland. Gonzalo should retain the central role after scoring twice in three games, but Smith Rowe has a case to replace Palacios. The likelier call is one more game for the existing front four.

Tom Cairney remains the main midfield absence and is expected to be out until October. His experience would help Fulham change the tempo against a compact block, although Charles offers a more athletic alternative if Arbeloa wants to alter the Berge-Iwobi pairing.

Fulham predicted lineup

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Leno; Castagne, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Berge, Iwobi; Bobb, King, Palacios; Gonzalo García.

Crystal Palace team news

Sage has kept the 3-4-2-1 inherited from Oliver Glasner, but the personnel around it are changing quickly. Jaydee Canvot and Chris Richards have started both league games. Takehiro Tomiyasu replaced the injured Riad against City, while Anan Khalaili came in at right wingback before Muñoz completed his move to Nottingham Forest.

The front line has also changed. Palace started at Everton with Nketiah and Dwight McNeil behind Mateta. Against City, Nketiah and Pino supported Strand Larsen because Mateta was injured and Ismaïla Sarr remained unavailable. Palace still created early openings through Wharton and Nketiah, but again lacked the finish.

Axel Disasi came off the bench against City and gives Sage an experienced option in the back three. He is not an automatic starter. Canvot has begun both league matches, while Tomiyasu's ability to defend wider spaces may suit a game in which Fulham's fullbacks advance.

The largest uncertainty is the attack. Mateta was reported as potentially facing several weeks out, while Sarr had not returned to full training before the City game. If neither is ready, Strand Larsen should remain the focal point with Nketiah and Pino operating around him.

Crystal Palace predicted lineup

Predicted XI (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Canvot, Richards, Tomiyasu; Khalaili, Wharton, Kamada, Mitchell; Nketiah, Pino; Strand Larsen.

Fulham vs Crystal Palace key matchup factors

Can Fulham turn possession into chances?

Fulham's 58% possession at Sunderland sounds useful until the shot data arrives. Eleven attempts produced none on target. Palace's back five can close the central spaces that King and Palacios want to occupy, leaving Fulham dependent on quicker combinations or better delivery from wide areas.

Gonzalo's movement gives them a penalty-area target, but he needs the ball earlier and more often. If Fulham circulate without breaking Palace's midfield line, the favorite's edge will shrink quickly.

Can Palace's chance creation survive their attacking absences?

The scorelines have been poor, but Palace created 2.04 expected goals at Everton and were dangerous early against City. Wharton has already shown he can find Nketiah between the lines and release runners beyond the defense.

The problem is the final action. Mateta's absence removes a proven penalty-area presence, while Sarr's speed would be particularly useful against Fulham's advanced fullbacks. Strand Larsen can occupy the center-backs, but Nketiah and Pino may have to provide most of the movement around him.

How much has Palace's defensive turnover changed the matchup?

Lacroix and Muñoz were important parts of Palace's previous structure, while Riad's injury forced another change. Sage now has Tomiyasu, Disasi and Khalaili available, but a collection of capable defenders is not yet the same as a settled unit.

Fulham should test those relationships by rotating Bobb and King inside, then using Castagne and Robinson outside them. Palace coped reasonably well for long periods against City before individual quality broke the game open. Fulham do not possess City's attacking ceiling, which makes the question more balanced here.

Fulham vs Crystal Palace head-to-head

Palace took four points from the two league meetings last season. They won 2-1 at Fulham in December, then drew 1-1 in the return fixture on January 1. Palace also won a preseason meeting 2-1 in August. Managerial and squad changes limit the predictive value, but Palace have recently been comfortable making this matchup competitive.

What could move Fulham vs Crystal Palace odds before kickoff?

Palace's pre-match update on Mateta, Sarr and Riad is the largest live variable. Smith Rowe replacing Palacios would signal a more aggressive Fulham approach, while Disasi starting ahead of Canvot would trade continuity for experience.
