Boston Celtics at Orlando Magic prediction, team news and lineups on Nov. 1, 2026
The Celtics are 70% favorites, with the Magic at 33%. Orlando is without Paolo Banchero and Jalen Suggs, which puts heavy pressure on its ball security against a Boston team led by a healthy Jayson Tatum.

The Celtics at Magic game on Sunday, Nov. 1, is a regular-season meeting between a Boston team that won its last three games through Oct. 27 and an Orlando team that is 1-3 and short on creators. The Celtics' only loss came in the season opener at Detroit, after they let a 22-point lead slip.
The Magic have lost Banchero and Suggs to injuries two days apart, and their turnovers and transition defense now carry more weight than their shot-making. Boston's central question is whether Tatum, Paul George and Derrick White can turn that pressure into a comfortable game.

What is the Celtics at Magic prediction?
The Celtics are favorites at 70%, with the Magic at 33%, according to market data as of 30 Oct 2026. For the latest probabilities, check OG.com.
The strongest case for Boston starts with Orlando's lack of ball handlers. The Magic turned the ball over 72 times in their first four games, 18 a night, and opponents scored 69 fast-break points to Orlando's 43. Without Suggs and Banchero, the Magic have fewer players who can bring the ball up against pressure and generate a clean shot.
Boston has the personnel to exploit that. Tatum scored 40 points against Brooklyn on Oct. 27, and the Celtics outscored the Nets 52-46 in the paint while committing 14 turnovers. Orlando has been out-scored in the paint in three of its four games.
The challenge for that case is variance. Boston shot 11-of-41 from three against Brooklyn, including 2-of-16 in the first half, and its only road game so far was a loss. Orlando won at New York on Oct. 25 by making 18 of 42 threes despite being out-scored 52-32 in the paint, so a hot shooting night can still keep it close.
Percentages in sports prediction markets can change as lineup news arrives, and the injury picture on both sides is the main variable here.
Celtics at Magic win probabilities
- Celtics win: 70%
- Magic win: 33%
Each percentage is the market's implied probability for that team. These percentages reflect the market's expectations, not guaranteed outcomes. Prediction market prices can change as traders react to new information, and the market resolves when the game ends and the winner is determined.
How could Celtics at Magic unfold?
Orlando's best version of this game keeps possessions clean and gets quick threes. In the Magic's win at New York, Franz Wagner scored 21 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter and Orlando finished with 16 turnovers, matching the Knicks. That is the template: limit giveaways, then let Desmond Bane, Wagner and Tristan da Silva shoot over a set defense.
Boston's version is more physical. The Celtics have scored 170 paint points in four games against 150 allowed, while Orlando has allowed 206 against 180 scored. Mitchell Robinson's rim presence and Tatum's free-throw volume (18-of-22 against Brooklyn) give Boston two ways to attack a Magic defense that has been beaten inside.
The transition game is where Orlando is most exposed. At Toronto on Oct. 28, the Magic committed 20 turnovers and gave up 23 fast-break points, and they trailed in rebounds 45-34. Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said after Boston's 134-99 win over Chicago on Oct. 26 that the Bulls pressure the margins and transitions, and that most of Boston's 25 turnovers were dead balls that Chicago couldn't use.
Both teams are back in action on Nov. 2, with Boston at Houston and Orlando hosting Washington, part of the daily sports prediction markets slate.
What is the latest team news?
Both teams have injury lists with very different effects on their rotations.
What is the latest on the Celtics?
Devin Carter is out with an illness and has no timetable for a return, according to Boston Globe reporting, and he is the only player on the team's most recent injury report. Tatum, George and Robinson have all played on the second night of a back-to-back this season, and Robinson said in October that he expects to play both nights in Boston.
White dealt with a right hip issue before the Oct. 27 game and played 33 minutes. Tatum played 42 minutes against the Nets in his first 40-point game since returning from a torn right Achilles tendon in March, and he said afterward that he has stopped thinking about the injury.
What is the latest on the Magic?
Banchero is out with a low-grade high ankle sprain and is expected to miss four to six weeks, according to ESPN. Suggs has a mild bone bruise in his right knee and will miss at least two weeks, according to ESPN, which covers Orlando's game on Nov. 1.
Jonathan Isaac (left knee), Noah Penda (hamstring) and Izaiyah Nelson (ankle) are also out. The result is a rotation with two starters missing and little frontcourt depth, which leaves Wagner and Wendell Carter Jr. carrying more of the creation and rebounding load.
What are the projected starting lineups?
Neither team has announced starters for this game, so both projections follow the groups each coach has used most recently.
How could the Celtics line up?
Projected starting five:
- Derrick White
- Jordan Walsh
- Paul George
- Jayson Tatum
- Mitchell Robinson
Boston has used this group in every regular-season game and in all three full-strength preseason games. This projection assumes all five are available; Neemias Queta is the main backup center if Robinson is out. Payton Pritchard, who scored 28 points in 22 minutes against Chicago, leads the bench.
How could the Magic line up?
Projected starting five:
- Jase Richardson
- Anthony Black
- Desmond Bane
- Franz Wagner
- Wendell Carter Jr.
This is the group Orlando started at Toronto on Oct. 28, with Black moving in for Suggs. This projection assumes Black is available; Tristan da Silva, who scored 20 points in 31 minutes off the bench in that game, is the likely alternative if he is not.
What could decide Celtics at Magic?
Three interactions will shape how the game plays out.
Can the Magic protect the ball without Suggs and Banchero?
Orlando's 20 turnovers at Toronto produced 23 fast-break points for the Raptors, and Boston's opponents have committed 76 turnovers in four games against the Celtics' 64. If Richardson, Black and Bane keep the ball safe, the Magic can stay in a half-court game they have won before.
Can Boston keep controlling the paint?
Boston has scored more points in the paint than its opponent in three of four games, with a 52-46 edge against Brooklyn. Orlando gave up 52 paint points at New York and still won, but it needed 18 made threes to do it.
Can Franz Wagner carry the creation load?
Wagner scored 21 fourth-quarter points at New York and then 15 points in 34 minutes at Toronto. With Banchero out, he is the player the Celtics can try to take out of the game, and his shot creation largely sets Orlando's offensive ceiling.
