Tottenham vs Everton prediction

Tottenham's expensive rebuild has not yet produced a Premier League goal.

Defeats by Brentford and Newcastle were followed by a 0-0 draw at Nottingham Forest, where Omar Marmoush, Sávio and Mathys Tel all started but none could turn 12 team shots into an effort on target.

Everton arrive with five points after beating Crystal Palace and drawing with Bournemouth and Manchester United. David Moyes' side needed late equalizers in both draws, but resilience is still a useful quality against opponents searching for confidence and attacking fluency.

Tottenham's price rests on home advantage and attacking potential rather than demonstrated league form.

De Zerbi can now select Marmoush, Sávio, Tel, Mohammed Kudus, Mykhailo Mudryk and Dominic Solanke. That is enough talent to expect improvement, even after three blunt performances.

There were signs of a more stable base at Forest. Sandro Tonali and Rodrigo Bentancur protected the defense, Tottenham allowed only two shots on target and Marmoush ran onto Pedro Porro's pass for their clearest opening.

The problem came afterward. De Zerbi identified decision-making in the final third as the issue, and Spurs rarely forced the last line into emergency defending.

Everton are well equipped to prolong that frustration. Jarrad Branthwaite and James Tarkowski give Moyes an experienced central pairing, while Harrison Armstrong and James Garner can protect the space ahead of them. Brennan Johnson and Tyrique George also provide enough pace to attack the areas behind Tottenham's adventurous fullbacks.

Still, Everton's unbeaten record needs context. Their two goals against Manchester United arrived in the final minutes through outstanding long-range strikes from George and debutant Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Moyes ended the transfer window with a thin squad and only one recognized striker, leaving little cover for Thierno Barry.

Tottenham should create more than they did at Forest, but 48% is too narrow to support a confident home prediction. Everton's compact shape and current resilience make a draw a creditable option.

Spurs' individual quality could break the drought; there is not yet enough control or attacking cohesion to assume the first goal becomes a first win.

Premier League 26/27 predictions:

Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton odds

  • Tottenham Hotspur win — 48%
  • Draw — 27%
  • Everton win — 27%

Tottenham lead each alternative by 21 points, but the market does not give the home side an outright majority. This is narrow favoritism around a team still waiting for its first league win and goal.

The identical draw and Everton prices are the more revealing part. Traders currently see Everton frustrating Spurs and beating them as equally plausible, which reflects the contrast between Tottenham's theoretical ceiling and the teams' actual starts.

Tottenham Hotspur team news

De Zerbi used a 4-2-3-1 at Forest, with Tonali and Bentancur behind Sávio, Conor Gallagher and Tel. Marmoush led the line.

The shape gave Tottenham greater defensive security after conceding five times in their opening two league games, but Gallagher could not consistently connect midfield with the front three.

James Maddison returned to training before the Forest match but was not ready to feature. His progress is the biggest selection question because Tottenham currently lack a natural creator at No. 10.

Gallagher is likely to retain the role unless Maddison proves ready to start, with Mateus Fernandes another option.

Sávio made his first Tottenham start at Forest, while Mudryk made his debut from the bench. The current hierarchy favors Sávio on the right and Tel on the left, with Mudryk and Kudus offering one-on-one threat later.

Solanke is available but Marmoush should keep the No. 9 position after producing Tottenham's best chance on his first start there.

Everton team news

Moyes has also settled on a 4-2-3-1. Against Manchester United, Armstrong and Garner formed the double pivot, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall played as the No. 10 and Johnson and George supported Barry.

Everton were not consistently dangerous, but the structure kept them in the match long enough for their substitutes to change it.

Garner left with cramp before Maitland-Niles scored the 96th-minute equalizer, making his recovery worth monitoring. If fit, Garner remains the likeliest starter alongside Armstrong.

Maitland-Niles' debut goal strengthens his case for minutes but does not by itself overturn that partnership, while Christian Nørgaard has been sidelined by a muscular problem.

George should retain the left-wing role after scoring against United. Jack Grealish brought fresh creativity from the bench but only rejoined Everton on deadline day, so another substitute appearance is more plausible than an immediate start.

Barry remains the clear center-forward choice after Beto and Iliman Ndiaye left during the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton key matchup factors

Can Tottenham's new front four solve the final-third problem?

The attacking names are no longer the issue. Sávio can beat a defender on the right, Tel can drive inside from the left and Marmoush threatens the space behind.

Gallagher supplies running and pressure around them. Tottenham now need those movements to complement rather than crowd one another.

At Forest, Marmoush's early run from Porro's pass showed the most direct route.

Everton will defend deeper, reducing that space and asking Spurs to create against an organized block.

Maddison's possible return would help. Without him, Tonali's passing and Sávio's one-on-one ability become even more important.

The key question is whether the famine can finally be ended on Gameweek 4.

Will Everton target the space behind Porro and Udogie?

De Zerbi wants both fullbacks to advance, particularly when Tottenham are expected to dominate possession.

That can pin Everton back, but it also creates the away side's clearest route forward.

Johnson knows Tottenham well and has the pace to attack Udogie's side, while George can carry the ball into the space Porro leaves.

Tonali and Bentancur must control the first pass after possession changes.

Their defensive work was strong at Forest, yet Everton have already shown they can stay alive through difficult periods. One clean transition could change the mood of a match Tottenham begin under pressure to score.

Can Everton protect the center without surrendering the wings?

Tarkowski and Branthwaite are comfortable defending crosses, so Tottenham gain little from circulating the ball wide and delivering predictably.

The harder problem for Everton comes when Sávio or Tel drives inside and Porro or Udogie overlaps. That forces the wide midfielder and fullback to choose between two runners.

Armstrong and Garner need to remain close enough to Dewsbury-Hall to block passes into Gallagher and Marmoush. If they sink too deep, Tonali could control the game from outside the box. If they step out, Marmoush can move into the channel between center back and fullback.

Which bench changes the game?

Tottenham have the greater range. Mudryk and Kudus can increase the tempo from wide positions, Solanke offers a different penalty-area reference and Maddison may provide the missing final pass if he is cleared. De Zerbi can change the attack without changing the formation.

Everton's options are fewer but already influential. Grealish and Hayden Hackney improved the attack against United, while Maitland-Niles scored within minutes of his debut.

Moyes has extracted late responses twice this season. The risk is that a thin squad may leave him with fewer answers if Everton have to chase Tottenham rather than merely resist them.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton head-to-head

Tottenham won both league meetings last season: their own double in 2025/26. Micky van de Ven scored twice in a 3-0 away victory in October, before João Palhinha's goal secured a 1-0 home win on the final day to secure Premier League survival.

The second result carries some relevance because De Zerbi was already in charge, although both squads have changed considerably.

Tottenham's recent record supports their narrow market edge; their current scoring drought prevents those wins from carrying too much predictive weight.

What could move Tottenham Hotspur vs Everton odds before kickoff?

Maddison's availability is the most important Tottenham update. A return would give De Zerbi a specialist between the lines and could move Gallagher into a deeper or substitute role.

Any indication that Mudryk is ready to start would also reshape the projected left side, while continued backing for Marmoush would confirm him as the current first-choice striker.

Everton will assess Garner after his cramp against Manchester United. Maitland-Niles is the obvious replacement if he cannot start, although Hackney is another central option.

Moyes' decision on Grealish also matters: keeping George after his goal preserves pace and continuity, while starting Grealish would prioritize ball retention and creativity against Tottenham's press.
