Kansas City Chiefs vs Las Vegas Raiders might have been anticipated as a meeting between an established contender and a team waiting for its rebuild to begin. Not anymore: both enter Week 4 at 3-0.
Patrick Mahomes has returned from last season's knee injury to lead wins over Denver, Indianapolis and Miami. Kenneth Walker III has supplied a more explosive running game, while the defense closed out Sunday's 24-10 victory with takeaways and disciplined pressure.
Las Vegas has changed just as quickly. Kirk Cousins has given Klint Kubiak stability at quarterback, Brock Bowers remains the offense's matchup problem and a defense led by Maxx Crosby forced four second-half turnovers in a 35-27 comeback win at New Orleans.
This is an AFC West game with an immediate claim on the top of the division.

Kansas City merits its lead because Mahomes gives the offense more answers when the original play breaks down. Walker has reduced the need for the quarterback to manufacture every explosive gain, and Travis Kelce, Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy can attack different areas of the field.
The Chiefs can also pressure Cousins through the middle with Chris Jones. Cousins is at his best when the protection lets him reach the top of his drop and deliver on rhythm. Interior disruption changes the timing before Bowers or Tre Tucker can uncover.
Las Vegas has a credible response. Crosby and Malcolm Koonce can test a Kansas City offensive line that played Week 3 without Josh Simmons, while Bowers can stress linebackers and safeties who must also account for play action.
The Chiefs have the higher ceiling and the more proven quarterback-coach partnership. The Raiders' 3-0 start, home advantage and ability to create turnovers make the market's hierarchy reasonable without making the matchup routine.
Kansas City Chiefs vs Las Vegas Raiders odds
Kansas City Chiefs win: 66%
Las Vegas Raiders win: 35%
The market separates two unbeaten teams because Kansas City's start has confirmed that Mahomes is again functioning within a balanced offense. Las Vegas has nevertheless moved beyond the rebuilding profile that defined it before the season.
The 2026 AFC West outlook shows how much the early hierarchy has already changed after Kansas City and Las Vegas both opened 3-0.
Kansas City Chiefs vs Las Vegas Raiders game outlook
Kansas City should test the edges of the Raiders' run defense before asking Mahomes to dominate through the air. Walker has the burst to punish light boxes, and his receiving ability lets Andy Reid keep the same personnel on the field while moving between conventional runs, screens and empty formations.
Las Vegas will try to disrupt that flexibility with its front. Crosby cannot simply chase Mahomes beyond the pocket; he has to compress the edge while the interior rush prevents the quarterback from stepping forward. The Raiders need pressure without committing so many extra defenders that Kelce and Rice receive free access underneath.
When Las Vegas has the ball, Bowers is the matchup center. He had 116 receiving yards against New Orleans and caught a touchdown after one of the Raiders' takeaways. Kansas City can bracket him, but doing so creates cleaner one-on-one chances for Tucker and reduces the defense's ability to fit the run aggressively.
Cousins must avoid obvious passing situations. Jones can destroy the depth and timing of the pocket, while George Karlaftis works best when he knows the quarterback has to throw. Ashton Jeanty and the play-action game can keep the Chiefs from attacking with that certainty.
Turnovers may decide whether this stays close. Las Vegas turned four second-half takeaways into the momentum it needed against New Orleans. Mahomes has spent most of his career punishing defenses that rely on receiving the same opportunities twice.
Team news and injuries
Kansas City Chiefs
Mahomes was a full participant with a knee designation before Week 3 and played throughout the win over Miami. Walker scored twice, while Kelce caught an 11-yard touchdown and Rice produced a 34-yard gain.
Left tackle Josh Simmons was ruled out with a back injury. Defensive back Chamarri Conner was also out, while Jones, L'Jarius Sneed and several other defenders carried limited practice designations before being available on Sunday.
The tackle situation matters directly against Crosby. Kansas City can help with tight ends and backs, but every extra protector reduces the number of receivers attacking Las Vegas' coverage.
Las Vegas Raiders
Cousins remains the starter after throwing three touchdown passes and 248 yards against New Orleans. Bowers is healthy and central to the passing game, while Tucker's vertical speed gives the offense a way to punish safety attention elsewhere.
Defensive lineman Kwity Paye was listed with an illness before Week 3. Crosby, Nakobe Dean and Koonce all contributed to a defense that forced four takeaways during the comeback.
Las Vegas' use of No. 1 pick Fernando Mendoza remains developmental rather than a live quarterback competition. The Raiders have built their unbeaten start around Cousins' command of Kubiak's offense.
Key factors that could decide Kansas City Chiefs vs Las Vegas Raiders
Can Las Vegas pressure Patrick Mahomes without losing contain?
Crosby can win quickly, but Mahomes is dangerous when a rush creates its own escape lane. The Raiders need coordinated pressure that collapses the pocket rather than isolated edge wins that open space for the quarterback.
How does Kansas City cover Brock Bowers?
Bowers can align inline, in the slot or outside and force the Chiefs to reveal their coverage response. Kansas City may use several defenders rather than one permanent assignment, with Sneed and the safeties carrying different parts of the matchup.
Can Kenneth Walker keep Kansas City on schedule?
Walker has already given the Chiefs a reliable source of rushing and receiving production. Efficient early-down runs make Reid's motion and play-action packages harder to diagnose and prevent the Raiders from turning the game into a pure pass-rush contest.
Will the Raiders create another turnover swing?
Las Vegas' Week 3 comeback changed when the defense started taking the ball away. That cannot be treated as a repeatable weekly plan, but one short field could be enough to alter a matchup in which Kansas City otherwise holds the efficiency advantage.
Kansas City Chiefs vs Las Vegas Raiders head-to-head
The teams split their 2025 meetings. Kansas City won 31-0 in Week 7, but Las Vegas answered with a 14-12 victory in the season finale.
Those results have limited predictive value because both teams have changed substantially. Cousins and Kubiak now run the Raiders' offense, while Walker has altered Kansas City's backfield. The divisional familiarity still matters: Crosby knows how Mahomes extends plays, and the Chiefs understand how aggressively Las Vegas wants to attack their protection.
What could move Kansas City Chiefs vs Las Vegas Raiders odds?
Simmons' back injury is the most important Kansas City issue because of the matchup with Crosby. Jones' calf and Sneed's knee also merit attention if either player's participation declines during the week.
For Las Vegas, the health of its defensive front and any change in Bowers' practice status would carry the most weight. More generally, the guide to football prediction markets explains how new information is incorporated into current prices.
