The Atlanta Falcons found their offense in Green Bay. Michael Penix Jr. returned to the starting lineup, Bijan Robinson and Drake London both produced huge games and Atlanta turned an 0-2 start into a 35-14 statement win.
New Orleans found the opposite ending. Tyler Shough threw four touchdown passes and Chris Olave topped 100 receiving yards against Las Vegas, but four fourth-quarter turnovers transformed a 27-16 lead into a 35-27 defeat.
Now the rivals meet on Monday night with matching 1-2 records. One offense is arriving with new confidence. The other has to prove that one disastrous quarter did not erase two weeks of promising quarterback play.

New Orleans deserves a narrow home edge because Shough's passing has been more consistent across the season than the 1-2 record suggests. He entered Week 3 leading the league in passing yards, then threw four touchdowns against the Raiders despite losing the game.
Atlanta has the more impressive latest performance. Robinson accumulated 213 yards and two touchdowns against Green Bay, London produced 194 receiving yards and Penix threw for 256 in his first start of the season. That is enough firepower to attack every level of the Saints defense.
The matchup turns on whether New Orleans can protect Shough. Starting left tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. is dealing with a high ankle sprain, and the protection weakened late against Las Vegas. Atlanta generated five sacks without blitzing in its first win over the Saints last season and now has another chance to make the pocket collapse from four-man pressure.
Home advantage and Shough's form justify the Saints' place at the top of the market. The gap remains modest because Robinson and London can turn Atlanta's offense into the stronger unit if the Green Bay performance travels.
Atlanta Falcons vs New Orleans Saints odds
- Atlanta Falcons win: 42%
- New Orleans Saints win: 59%
The pricing reflects a division game between teams with the same record and very different Week 3 emotions. New Orleans has the more stable early-season passing evidence; Atlanta has just produced the most complete offensive performance either team has managed this year.
The NFC South outlook explains why neither team entered 2026 with much separation from the rest of the division.
Atlanta Falcons vs New Orleans Saints game outlook
Atlanta should continue building from Robinson. The Falcons' offensive line created movement in Green Bay, and Brian Robinson Jr. helped maintain the physical approach when Bijan Robinson was not carrying the ball. That run threat gives Penix cleaner play-action windows to London and Kyle Pitts.
New Orleans cannot allow the backfield to dictate every defensive response. Chase Young can set the edge and create pressure, but the Saints also need their linebackers to close interior lanes without vacating the intermediate areas London and Pitts use so well.
When the Saints have the ball, the first question is protection. Asim Richards has replaced Banks at left tackle, and Atlanta can test him with speed, stunts and rushers aligned wide enough to force a long set. Shough may need to lean on faster throws to Olave, Juwan Johnson and Noah Fant.
Those tight ends mattered against Las Vegas. Johnson and Fant accounted for all four New Orleans touchdown catches, giving Shough answers when the Raiders concentrated on Olave. Atlanta's linebackers and safeties must pass those routes cleanly when the Saints use play action or release both tight ends into the same area.
Turnovers will shape the pace. New Orleans does not need to become conservative, but it cannot give Atlanta repeated short fields. The Falcons are now built to turn one defensive stop into a Robinson-led drive that controls both the score and the clock.
Team news and injuries
Atlanta Falcons
Penix is the confirmed starter after returning from knee rehabilitation for Week 3. He played through an early interception and finished with 256 passing yards as Atlanta generated roughly 500 yards before its final kneel-downs.
Tua Tagovailoa was available as the backup in Green Bay after recovering from an oblique injury. That gives Atlanta more experience behind Penix than it had earlier in September.
Samson Ebukam missed Week 3 with a hamstring injury, reducing the established edge rotation. Safety Billy Bowman Jr. made his season debut after completing his recovery from an Achilles injury, adding another option to a secondary that will spend much of Monday dealing with Olave and the Saints' tight ends.
New Orleans Saints
Shough remains the confirmed starter. His four-touchdown performance against Las Vegas included nine completions to Olave for 107 yards, but an interception and two lost fumbles were part of the fourth-quarter collapse.
Banks suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 2 and did not play against the Raiders. Richards stepped in at left tackle. That change remains central because Atlanta's clearest defensive route is to create pressure without sending extra rushers.
Barion Brown and Christen Miller were ruled out in Week 3, while cornerback Martin Emerson Jr. carried a shoulder injury into the weekend. The Saints' first practice report will clarify whether the receiving and defensive rotations are beginning to recover.
Key factors that could decide Atlanta Falcons vs New Orleans Saints
Can New Orleans slow Robinson without exposing the secondary?
Robinson forces defenses to account for both inside runs and routes from the backfield. Extra bodies near the line may help against the run, but they also create isolated coverage for London and Pitts.
Does Atlanta create pressure with four rushers?
The Falcons do not want to blitz Shough into obvious answers for Olave and the tight ends. If they can stress Richards and compress the pocket without sacrificing coverage, New Orleans will have to shorten its passing game.
Can Shough respond without becoming cautious?
The Week 3 turnovers were damaging, but the Saints also scored 27 points because Shough continued to attack. New Orleans needs better ball security without removing the downfield aggression that has made the offense dangerous.
Was Atlanta's offensive breakout sustainable?
The line created room, Penix handled the moment and the two best playmakers dominated Green Bay. Repeating that level of efficiency on the road would change the early picture of the NFC South.
Atlanta Falcons vs New Orleans Saints head-to-head
Atlanta swept the 2025 series. The Falcons won 24-10 in New Orleans in Week 12, generating five sacks with four or fewer rushers and keeping the Saints out of the end zone. They then won the season finale 19-17 after New Orleans' attempted comeback ended on fourth down.
Those games still offer one useful thread: Atlanta has recently been able to disrupt the Saints without relying on heavy blitzing. The personnel and quarterback situation have changed, however, and the Falcons' new offensive shape under Penix matters more than the aggregate score from last season.
What could move Atlanta Falcons vs New Orleans Saints odds?
Banks' availability is the largest New Orleans variable because it changes the matchup between Shough's protection and Atlanta's front. Emerson's shoulder status would also affect how aggressively the Saints can cover London.
For Atlanta, Ebukam's hamstring and any reaction to Penix's first full start are the main early-week questions. The OG Learn Hub injury guide explains why quarterback protection and pass-rush availability can have an outsized effect on football pricing.
