Teams on bye: Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jacksonville Jaguars vs Baltimore Ravens prediction
- Date: Thursday, November 5.
- Kickoff: 8:15 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Jaguars 80%; Ravens 21%.
- What to watch: Baltimore's quarterback against Jacksonville's takeaway defense.
Lamar Jackson is out with a thumb injury, so Joe Fagnano, who went 10 of 21 for 91 yards in relief at Buffalo, is the likelier starter with Tyler Huntley questionable with a toe injury. That puts a rookie against a Jacksonville defense with 9 interceptions. We favor the Jaguars, whose Trevor Lawrence threw 3 touchdowns without an interception against Indianapolis. For Baltimore to pull the upset, Derrick Henry and the run game have to keep Fagnano out of obvious passing downs.
Cincinnati Bengals vs Atlanta Falcons prediction
- Date: Sunday, November 8.
- Kickoff: 9:30 a.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Bengals 62%; Falcons 39%.
- What to watch: Joe Burrow against Atlanta's secondary.
Joe Burrow went 38 of 48 for 462 yards and five touchdowns against Tennessee, though three interceptions marred the day. Atlanta has just 3 interceptions as a team, so Cincinnati can keep attacking through the air even with its run game ranked 30th. Cincinnati gets our pick. Atlanta's route to an upset runs through Brian Robinson Jr., expected back after missing last week, and a cleaner day from Michael Penix Jr., who threw four interceptions in the 16-0 loss at Tampa Bay.
Dallas Cowboys vs Indianapolis Colts prediction
- Date: Sunday, November 8.
- Kickoff: 1:00 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Cowboys 70%; Colts 31%.
- What to watch: Indianapolis rushing against Dallas's last-ranked run defense.
Dak Prescott threw for 195 yards without an interception in the 33-30 loss to Arizona, and Dallas scores 27.4 points per game. Indianapolis counters with Jonathan Taylor, who has 610 rushing yards, against a Cowboys run defense that ranks last in the league. We give the Cowboys a slight edge because the Colts own the worst turnover margin. Indianapolis changes that only if Taylor controls the clock and Daniel Jones stops giving the ball away.
New York Jets vs Kansas City Chiefs prediction
- Date: Sunday, November 8.
- Kickoff: 1:00 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Jets 19%; Chiefs 82%.
- What to watch: Patrick Mahomes against New York's secondary.
Patrick Mahomes threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns without an interception in the loss at Denver, and Kansas City has allowed only 9 sacks, second fewest. New York has one interception all season, the lowest total in the league, so Mahomes should have time and room to work. Kansas City gets our pick. For the Jets to pull the upset, Geno Smith has to repeat his 290-yard day while Breece Hall, expected back after missing last game, keeps the Chiefs' offense off the field.
Detroit Lions vs Miami Dolphins prediction
- Date: Sunday, November 8.
- Kickoff: 1:00 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Lions 75%; Dolphins 26%.
- What to watch: Jared Goff and Detroit's top-ranked offense.
Jared Goff and the Lions rank first in the league in yards per game, and Detroit comes in off a 19-15 win over Minnesota. Miami scores 16.7 points per game, 31st, and has only 9 sacks, so the Dolphins have little to slow a pass rush that has 24 sacks. We favor the Lions. Miami changes the script only if Malik Willis protects the ball after throwing an interception against New England and the offense finds the end zone early.
Cleveland Browns vs New Orleans Saints prediction
- Date: Sunday, November 8.
- Kickoff: 1:00 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Browns 42%; Saints 59%.
- What to watch: Cleveland's protection for Deshaun Watson.
Deshaun Watson threw for 324 yards without a touchdown in the 27-6 loss at Pittsburgh, and Cleveland has been sacked a league-high 33 times. New Orleans, after its bye, has Tyler Shough atop the depth chart and allows 27.7 points per game. We give the Saints a narrow edge at home because Cleveland scores only 17.4 points per game. The Browns need their pass rush, which has 21 sacks, to hurry Shough before Watson has to throw 39 times again.
New York Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles prediction
- Date: Sunday, November 8.
- Kickoff: 1:00 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Giants 61%; Eagles 40%.
- What to watch: DeVonta Smith's return to the Eagles' offense.
J.J. McCarthy tops the Giants' depth chart after the bye, while Jameis Winston has thrown for the most yards on the roster this season, 957. Philadelphia ranks last in the league in yards per game, which gives New York an opening even though its own pass rush has just 9 sacks. We lean toward the Giants. The Eagles need DeVonta Smith, expected back after missing last game, to give Tanner McKee a target who lifts a stalled offense.
Los Angeles Rams vs Washington Commanders prediction
- Date: Sunday, November 8.
- Kickoff: 1:00 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Rams 71%; Commanders 31%.
- What to watch: Matthew Stafford against Washington's thin defense.
Matthew Stafford went 17 of 25 for 157 yards in the 24-9 win over the Chargers, and the Rams rank fourth in yards per game while allowing only 12 sacks. Washington gives up 26.0 points per game and is without Daron Payne, who is out. We give the Rams a slight edge. For Washington to pull the upset, Jayden Daniels has to lean on the takeaways that tie the Commanders for the league lead in turnover margin.
Denver Broncos vs Carolina Panthers prediction
- Date: Sunday, November 8.
- Kickoff: 1:00 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Broncos 60%; Panthers 43%.
- What to watch: Denver's pass rush against Bryce Young.
Bo Nix threw two touchdowns without an interception in the 28-24 win over Kansas City, and Denver's pass rush ranks tied for fourth in sacks. Carolina has been sacked 23 times and gives up 141 rushing yards per game, so Bryce Young will work under pressure. We lean toward the Broncos. The Panthers can change that if Young protects the ball after his interception against Green Bay and the offense forces Denver, 30th in yards per game, to play from behind.
Houston Texans vs Los Angeles Chargers prediction
- Date: Sunday, November 8.
- Kickoff: 4:05 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Texans 66%; Chargers 35%.
- What to watch: C.J. Stroud against a winless Chargers defense.
Justin Herbert threw two interceptions in the 24-9 loss at the Rams, and the winless Chargers average 14.1 points per game, last in the league. Houston has C.J. Stroud listed as the starter after its bye and a pass rush with 21 sacks, tied for eighth. We favor the Texans. Los Angeles can only change that if Herbert handles that pass rush and the offense finally breaks through.
Green Bay Packers vs New England Patriots prediction
- Date: Sunday, November 8.
- Kickoff: 4:25 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Packers 44%; Patriots 58%.
- What to watch: Drake Maye against Green Bay's takeaway defense.
Green Bay has 10 interceptions, second in the league, but Micah Parsons is out and the Packers rank last in rushing yards per game. New England's Drake Maye completed 16 of 20 passes for 199 yards at Miami, yet the Patriots sit tied for 30th in turnover margin. We give the Patriots a slight edge at home. For Green Bay to pull the upset, Jordan Love has to turn takeaways into short fields.
Las Vegas Raiders vs San Francisco 49ers prediction
- Date: Sunday, November 8.
- Kickoff: 4:25 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Raiders 21%; 49ers 80%.
- What to watch: Kirk Cousins against San Francisco's run defense.
Kirk Cousins threw three touchdowns without an interception in the 38-33 win at the Jets, and Las Vegas scores 27.6 points per game while allowing only 11 sacks. San Francisco ranks fourth in scoring and fifth in rushing yards allowed, but the Raiders give up 28.8 points per game, 31st. San Francisco gets our pick. Las Vegas pulls the upset only if Cousins keeps the line clean and the defense stops bleeding points.
Arizona Cardinals vs Seattle Seahawks prediction
- Date: Sunday, November 8.
- Kickoff: 4:25 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Cardinals 17%; Seahawks 84%.
- What to watch: Arizona's quarterback against Seattle's third-ranked scoring defense.
Gardner Minshew II threw three touchdowns in relief of Jacoby Brissett, the depth chart's QB1, in Arizona's 33-30 overtime win at Dallas, and Arizona has not named a starter. Either passer faces a Seattle defense that allows 17.9 points per game, third in the league, while Arizona gives up the most points in the league. We are withholding a firm pick until Arizona settles its starting quarterback. Arizona has to finish drives against a defense with 8 interceptions and get stops that keep Sam Darnold off the field.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Chicago Bears prediction
- Date: Sunday, November 8.
- Kickoff: 8:20 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Buccaneers 30%; Bears 71%.
- What to watch: Tampa Bay's top-ranked run game against Chicago's front.
Baker Mayfield completed 0 of 3 passes in Tampa Bay's 16-0 win over Atlanta, a game carried by a ground game that leads the league in rushing yards per game. Chicago ranks fourth in rushing yards allowed, so the Bears can meet that run with Caleb Williams and a rushing attack that ranks second. Chicago gets our pick. The Buccaneers need the takeaways that produced 12 interceptions, most in the league, to bother Williams.
Buffalo Bills vs Minnesota Vikings prediction
- Date: Monday, November 9.
- Kickoff: 8:15 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Bills 60%; Vikings 41%.
- What to watch: Minnesota's top-ranked defense against Josh Allen.
Kyler Murray, questionable with a hamstring issue, is the expected Vikings starter after coach Kevin O'Connell said the team is standing by him, with Carson Wentz as the alternative. Minnesota allows 13.3 points per game, the fewest in the league, while Buffalo scores 33.3, the most. We give the Bills a narrow edge whichever quarterback the Vikings use. Minnesota has to lean on its 25 sacks to slow Josh Allen, because the offense, at 20.0 points per game, cannot trade scores.
What could change before the Week 9 games?
Baltimore's starter against Jacksonville depends on the knee of Joe Fagnano and the toe of Tyler Huntley. Kyler Murray's hamstring leaves open a Carson Wentz start for Minnesota, and Arizona has not settled between Gardner Minshew II and Jacoby Brissett. Tampa Bay and Chicago, and Arizona and Seattle, also play Week 8 games that may change their status. The probabilities above reflect the recorded market snapshot and may change as news develops.
