Teams on bye: New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans.
Carolina Panthers vs Green Bay Packers prediction
Date: Thursday, October 29.
Kickoff: 8:15 p.m. ET.
OG win probabilities: Panthers 35%; Packers 66%.
What to watch: Carolina's protection for Bryce Young without Taylor Moton.
Bryce Young threw two interceptions in Carolina's 43-13 loss to Tampa Bay, and the Panthers lost right tackle Taylor Moton to a fractured fibula. Rookie Monroe Freeling now has to block a Green Bay defense that leads the league with nine interceptions. We lean Green Bay, even after the Packers failed to finish drives in Detroit. For Carolina to change the outcome, a run defense that allows 153 yards per game, last in the league, has to hold up on a short week.
What to watch: Lamar Jackson's return from an ankle injury.
Lamar Jackson is expected to return from the ankle injury that cost him three games, with coach Jesse Minter saying he will play, which would replace the Tyler Huntley offense that lost 35-13 to Cincinnati. Buffalo scores a league-high 32.8 points per game behind Josh Allen but allows 28.5, 30th. We give Buffalo a slight edge after the bye. For Baltimore to pull the upset, a run game ranked fourth has to keep Allen on the sideline.
What to watch: Cincinnati's pass rush against Cam Ward.
Joe Burrow threw four touchdown passes without an interception in Cincinnati's 35-13 win at Baltimore, and the Bengals average 27.2 points per game, fourth in the league. Tennessee's offense is last in yardage at 249 per game, which leaves Cam Ward little room against a pass rush that ties for the league lead in sacks. We favor Cincinnati. Tennessee's best route is protection, its one strong unit with only 11 sacks allowed, giving Ward enough time to avoid obvious passing downs.
Arizona Cardinals vs Dallas Cowboys prediction
Date: Sunday, November 1.
Kickoff: 1:00 p.m. ET.
OG win probabilities: Cardinals 29%; Cowboys 72%.
What to watch: Arizona's protection for Jacoby Brissett.
Denver hit Jacoby Brissett 13 times in Arizona's loss, even as Trey McBride caught 10 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown. Dallas has allowed only seven sacks, tied for the fewest, and Dak Prescott faces a Cardinals defense that gives up 29.7 points per game, last in the league. We favor Dallas, with the Cowboys' Monday night game against Philadelphia still to play. Arizona changes the outcome only by turning McBride's yardage into touchdowns instead of field goals.
What to watch: Minnesota's defense against Jared Goff.
Minnesota is 6-0 behind a defense that allows 12.3 points per game, the fewest in the league, and a turnover margin of plus 7 that is also first. Detroit counters with Jared Goff, who threw for 303 yards without an interception against Green Bay, and the second-highest scoring offense at 30.7 points per game. We lean Minnesota because Kyler Murray's offense, 29th in yardage, can win while the defense controls possessions. Detroit answers by protecting the football against a Vikings secondary with seven interceptions.
Las Vegas Raiders vs New York Jets prediction
Date: Sunday, November 1.
Kickoff: 1:00 p.m. ET.
OG win probabilities: Raiders 51%; Jets 50%.
What to watch: Geno Smith's protection against the Raiders' rush.
Kirk Cousins threw for 295 yards and two touchdowns in the Raiders' loss to the Rams, and Las Vegas scores 26.1 points per game, sixth in the league. The Jets have allowed 21 sacks, tied for 27th fewest, so Geno Smith must work behind shaky protection even after a three-touchdown game against Miami. We give the Raiders a narrow edge on scoring output. For the Jets to flip it, Smith has to release the ball before the rush arrives.
Cleveland Browns vs Pittsburgh Steelers prediction
Date: Sunday, November 1.
Kickoff: 1:00 p.m. ET.
OG win probabilities: Browns 37%; Steelers 65%.
What to watch: Pittsburgh's run game against Cleveland's front.
Jaylen Warren rushed for 101 yards in Pittsburgh's win over New Orleans, and the Steelers held the Saints to 17 rushing yards on 18 carries. That run defense, seventh in yards allowed, meets a Browns line that has given up 25 sacks, the most in the league, so Deshaun Watson faces pressure whenever the run stalls. Pittsburgh gets our pick, though Cleveland already beat the Steelers this season. Cleveland's sixth-ranked pass rush has to reach Aaron Rodgers, whose line has allowed 22 sacks.
Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers prediction
Date: Sunday, November 1.
Kickoff: 1:00 p.m. ET.
OG win probabilities: Falcons 47%; Buccaneers 55%.
What to watch: Bucky Irving and Tampa Bay's ground game.
Tampa Bay rushed for 258 yards against Carolina, with Bucky Irving gaining 106 yards and scoring twice while Baker Mayfield attempted only 11 passes in his return from a thumb injury. Atlanta's run defense is fourth in yards allowed, so the Buccaneers' third-ranked ground game meets a real test. We give Tampa Bay a narrow edge because that ground game pairs with eight interceptions, tied for second. Atlanta's route is Michael Penix Jr. repeating his 213-yard, three-touchdown game without taking a sack.
Indianapolis Colts vs Jacksonville Jaguars prediction
Date: Sunday, November 1.
Kickoff: 1:00 p.m. ET.
OG win probabilities: Colts 23%; Jaguars 77%.
What to watch: Jonathan Taylor against Jacksonville's run defense.
Daniel Jones completed 13 of 22 passes for 108 yards and an interception in the Colts' loss at Minnesota, and Shane Steichen said he is not considering a quarterback change. Indianapolis has the league's worst turnover margin at minus 9, while Jacksonville has seven interceptions. We favor the Jaguars, whose run defense allows a league-low 72 yards per game and blunts Jonathan Taylor. Indianapolis needs Jones to protect the ball, since Trevor Lawrence and a plus 5 turnover margin punish every extra giveaway.
Los Angeles Chargers vs Los Angeles Rams prediction
Date: Sunday, November 1.
Kickoff: 4:05 p.m. ET.
OG win probabilities: Chargers 25%; Rams 76%.
What to watch: Justin Herbert's protection against the Rams' pass rush.
Matthew Stafford threw three touchdown passes in the Rams' 35-21 win at Las Vegas, and the offense leads the league at 399 yards per game. The Chargers are 0-6 and score a league-low 15.0 points per game, while Justin Herbert has been sacked 21 times, tied for 27th fewest. The Rams' pass rush has only 10 sacks, 27th, which gives Herbert some relief. We favor the Rams. The Chargers need to turn that extra time into points.
Kansas City Chiefs vs Denver Broncos prediction
Date: Sunday, November 1.
Kickoff: 4:25 p.m. ET.
OG win probabilities: Chiefs 52%; Broncos 49%.
What to watch: Kansas City's protection against Denver's pass rush.
Patrick Mahomes managed 165 yards and an interception in a 20-3 loss at Seattle, though Kansas City's line has allowed only seven sacks, tied for the fewest. That protection meets a Denver pass rush tied for the league lead with 21 sacks. We give Kansas City a slight edge because its defense allows 17.2 points per game, second in the league, while Denver's offense is 30th in yardage. Denver needs its rush to reach Mahomes before his reads develop.
New England Patriots vs Miami Dolphins prediction
Date: Sunday, November 1.
Kickoff: 4:25 p.m. ET.
OG win probabilities: Patriots 77%; Dolphins 24%.
What to watch: Drake Maye against Miami's pass rush.
Drake Maye threw for 321 yards and two scores in New England's loss at Chicago, and he now faces a Miami pass rush with six sacks, the fewest in the league. The Patriots' turnover margin of minus 7 is 31st, so ball security is the one weakness the Dolphins can attack. We favor New England. Miami's route runs through Malik Willis repeating the 208 yards and two touchdowns he produced against the Jets, with a run game ranked seventh setting the pace.
Philadelphia Eagles vs Washington Commanders prediction
Date: Sunday, November 1.
Kickoff: 8:20 p.m. ET.
OG win probabilities: Eagles 37%; Commanders 64%.
What to watch: Tanner McKee's start for Philadelphia.
Tanner McKee is Philadelphia's expected starter at quarterback with Jalen Hurts on injured reserve, and the Eagles' offense is 29th in scoring at 17.7 points per game. Washington allows 28.7 points per game, 31st, which gives that offense a soft target, though Terry McLaurin is out. We see a closer game than the prices suggest. Washington's route is its turnover margin of plus 6, second in the league, which can pressure an offense that is 31st in yardage.
Chicago Bears vs Seattle Seahawks prediction
Date: Monday, November 2.
Kickoff: 8:15 p.m. ET.
OG win probabilities: Bears 40%; Seahawks 63%.
What to watch: Chicago's run game against Seattle's front.
Caleb Williams threw for 308 yards and two touchdowns without an interception against New England, and Chicago leads the league with 154 rushing yards per game. Seattle's run defense is sixth in yards allowed, and a defense that held Kansas City to three points while forcing eight interceptions, tied for second, anchors Sam Darnold's team. We give Seattle a slight edge. Chicago changes that by letting its top-ranked run game set the tempo and keeping Williams away from obvious passing downs.
What could change before the Week 8 games?
Lamar Jackson's expected return for Baltimore at Buffalo is the largest open item, and DJ Moore is questionable for the Bills. Philadelphia plays Dallas on Monday night before facing Washington, and Ladd McConkey is questionable for the Chargers. The probabilities above reflect the recorded market snapshot and may change as news develops. Any confirmed kickoff changes will be reflected in the schedule.
