New Mexico Lobos vs Nevada Wolf Pack prediction
- Date: Friday, November 6.
- Kickoff: 9:00 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Lobos 78%; Wolf Pack 23%.
- What to watch: New Mexico's takeaway-heavy defense against Nevada's offense.
New Mexico allows 11.9 points per game, the fewest in the country, and the Lobos lead the nation with 17 interceptions. Nevada averages 336 yards per game, so quarterback AJ Bianco has to protect the ball against that secondary. We favor New Mexico. For Nevada to make this a game, Bianco has to get through the first half without a turnover and keep the Wolf Pack's defense rested.
TCU Horned Frogs vs Arizona Wildcats prediction
- Date: Friday, November 6.
- Kickoff: 10:15 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Horned Frogs 26%; Wildcats 76%.
- What to watch: Noah Fifita's passing volume against TCU's defense.
Noah Fifita completed 33 of 45 passes for 417 yards in Arizona's loss at Texas Tech, and the Wildcats score 34.9 points per game. TCU averages 115 rushing yards and has been sacked 21 times, so it meets an Arizona front with 25 sacks. We lean Arizona. TCU's upset hopes rest on Jaden Craig finding time and a defense allowing 14.1 points per game slowing Fifita.
BYU Cougars vs Utah Utes prediction
- Date: Saturday, November 7.
- Kickoff: 12:00 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Cougars 36%; Utes 65%.
- What to watch: Devon Dampier and Utah's ground game against BYU.
Utah's run game averages 227 yards per game, and Devon Dampier threw three touchdown passes in the win at Cincinnati. BYU allows 100 rushing yards per game and has been sacked only five times, so Bear Bachmeier should have time to answer. We give Utah a slight edge. BYU stays in range if it holds Utah's ground game below that average and Bachmeier avoids another interception.
UCLA Bruins vs Minnesota Golden Gophers prediction
- Date: Saturday, November 7.
- Kickoff: 12:00 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Bruins 71%; Golden Gophers 37%.
- What to watch: UCLA's turnover-forcing secondary against Drake Lindsey.
UCLA has 16 interceptions, second in the nation, and allows 13.4 points per game. Minnesota averages 100 rushing yards, so Drake Lindsey, who completed 20 of 37 passes for 120 yards at Indiana, has to carry the offense against that secondary. We favor UCLA. Minnesota stays close only if it protects Lindsey and gives its defense good field position.
Texas Longhorns vs Missouri Tigers prediction
- Date: Saturday, November 7.
- Kickoff: 12:00 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Longhorns 58%; Tigers 43%.
- What to watch: Arch Manning's protection against Missouri's front.
Arch Manning completed 16 of 20 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns against Mississippi State, though Texas has been sacked 24 times. Missouri has given up just eight sacks, while the Longhorns' own front has 26 and meets quarterback Austin Simmons. We give Texas a narrow edge. Missouri flips this if Simmons keeps that clean protection and the Tigers' defense limits Texas to 102 rushing yards per game.
Texas A&M Aggies vs South Carolina Gamecocks prediction
- Date: Saturday, November 7.
- Kickoff: 3:00 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Aggies 29%; Gamecocks 72%.
- What to watch: LaNorris Sellers against Texas A&M's thin pass rush.
LaNorris Sellers threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns at Oklahoma, but he also threw two interceptions. Texas A&M has only seven sacks all season, so its front has produced little pressure to force more. South Carolina averages 218 rushing yards per game. South Carolina gets our pick. Texas A&M's route to an upset is to slow that run game and make Sellers throw into coverage.
Alabama Crimson Tide vs LSU Tigers prediction
- Date: Saturday, November 7.
- Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Crimson Tide 34%; Tigers 68%.
- What to watch: LSU's pass rush against Alabama's offensive line.
LSU has 34 sacks, tied for second nationally, and Alabama has been sacked 23 times, a mismatch for the Crimson Tide's offense. Alabama has 12 interceptions, which gives its defense a way to disrupt an LSU offense averaging 510 yards per game. We lean LSU. Alabama's offensive line has to hold up and the defense must turn takeaways into short fields if the Crimson Tide are to upset the Tigers.
Oregon Ducks vs Ohio State Buckeyes prediction
- Date: Saturday, November 7.
- Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Ducks 29%; Buckeyes 72%.
- What to watch: Dylan Raiola's protection against Ohio State's defense.
Dylan Raiola threw for 336 yards and three touchdowns against Northwestern, and Oregon has been sacked only 11 times. Ohio State has produced few sacks and just four interceptions, so its defense has created few disruptions. It still allows 15.5 points per game. We give Ohio State a slight edge. Oregon changes that if Raiola keeps the pocket steady and the offense finishes drives.
Merrimack Warriors vs Wake Forest Demon Deacons prediction
- Date: Saturday, November 7.
- Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Warriors 1%; Demon Deacons 99%.
- What to watch: Gio Lopez and Wake Forest's offense in a first meeting.
Gio Lopez completed 13 of 21 passes for 229 yards in the win over Virginia, and Wake Forest scores 39.1 points per game. Merrimack arrives for the first meeting between the schools, and the Demon Deacons have won their last 20 games against FCS opponents dating to 2000. Wake Forest gets our pick. For Merrimack to hang around, the Warriors have to run the ball against the Demon Deacons' run defense.
Cincinnati Bearcats vs Houston Cougars prediction
- Date: Saturday, November 7.
- Kickoff: 3:30 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Bearcats 21%; Cougars 80%.
- What to watch: Cincinnati's run game against Houston's run defense.
Cincinnati's run game averages 229 yards per game, but a defense allowing 29.2 points per game gave up 49 to Utah. Houston scores 36.0 per game and allows 100 rushing yards, so the Bearcats' ground attack meets a stout run defense. We favor Houston. Cincinnati's path to an upset runs through JC French IV avoiding the interception he threw last week and keeping pace in a shootout.
Boise State Broncos vs Colorado State Rams prediction
- Date: Saturday, November 7.
- Kickoff: 6:00 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Broncos 89%; Rams 12%.
- What to watch: Boise State's run game against Colorado State's defense.
Colorado State allows 261 rushing yards and 42.4 points per game, near the bottom of the national rankings in both, while Boise State averages 223 yards on the ground. Quarterback Maddux Madsen completed 24 of 33 passes in the 46-45 win over Texas State. We favor Boise State. Colorado State's best chance is to turn its nine interceptions into short fields for Hauss Hejny.
Kentucky Wildcats vs Tennessee Volunteers prediction
- Date: Saturday, November 7.
- Kickoff: 6:15 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Wildcats 33%; Volunteers 67%.
- What to watch: Tennessee's pass rush against Kentucky's offense.
Tennessee has 35 sacks, the most in the country, and its defense allows 16.2 points per game. Kentucky has 12 interceptions, tied for fifth, so this pairs a pass rush with a ball-hawking secondary. Tennessee's run game adds 213 yards per game. We lean Tennessee. Kentucky has to turn its takeaways into points before the Volunteers' front wears the offense down.
Miami Hurricanes vs Notre Dame Fighting Irish prediction
- Date: Saturday, November 7.
- Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Hurricanes 35%; Fighting Irish 65%.
- What to watch: Notre Dame's protection for CJ Carr against Miami's defense.
Miami scores 47.6 points per game, the most in the country, and Darian Mensah threw three touchdown passes in the win at North Carolina. Notre Dame has allowed only two sacks all season and its defense gives up 13.4 points per game, so Mensah faces real resistance. We see a closer game than the prices suggest. For Notre Dame to separate, CJ Carr has to throw from clean pockets and keep Miami's offense on the sideline.
Georgia Bulldogs vs Ole Miss Rebels prediction
- Date: Saturday, November 7.
- Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Bulldogs 62%; Rebels 40%.
- What to watch: Trinidad Chambliss's protection against Georgia's pass rush.
Georgia scores 41.0 points per game, though Gunner Stockton threw for only 101 yards against Florida. Ole Miss has been sacked just five times, so Trinidad Chambliss gets time to throw against a Bulldogs front with 26 sacks. We favor Georgia. Ole Miss needs Chambliss to avoid the kind of interception he threw against Auburn if the Rebels are to spring the upset.
Iowa Hawkeyes vs Northwestern Wildcats prediction
- Date: Saturday, November 7.
- Kickoff: 7:30 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Hawkeyes 49%; Wildcats 58%.
- What to watch: Iowa's run defense against Northwestern's ground game.
Iowa shut out Wisconsin 30-0, and Hank Brown completed 20 of 24 passes for 222 yards. The Hawkeyes allow 12.5 points and 79 rushing yards per game, which tests a Northwestern run game averaging 201 yards. We lean Iowa, even with the market tilted toward Northwestern. For Northwestern to prove the market right, Aidan Chiles has to stretch Iowa's defense through the air, as he did at Oregon.
Oklahoma Sooners vs Florida Gators prediction
- Date: Saturday, November 7.
- Kickoff: 7:45 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Sooners 32%; Gators 69%.
- What to watch: John Mateer's protection against Florida's pass rush.
John Mateer attempted 43 passes in Oklahoma's loss to South Carolina, a sign of an offense averaging just 107 rushing yards per game. Florida's front has 23 sacks, and Oklahoma has been sacked 21 times, so Mateer faces pressure again. We lean Florida. Oklahoma needs its own pass rush to match that pressure against Tramell Jones Jr., who threw an interception in the loss to Georgia.
West Virginia Mountaineers vs Texas Tech Red Raiders prediction
- Date: Saturday, November 7.
- Kickoff: 9:30 p.m. ET.
- OG win probabilities: Mountaineers 13%; Red Raiders 88%.
- What to watch: West Virginia's run game against Texas Tech's defense.
West Virginia's run game averages 262 yards per game, fifth in the country. Texas Tech has 13 interceptions, fourth nationally, and 26 sacks, which pressures a Mountaineers offense that must stay on schedule. Thomas Castellanos threw two touchdowns in the win over Arizona. We favor Texas Tech. West Virginia's upset case depends on the offense running well enough to protect a defense allowing 32.2 points per game.
