Chicago travels to Lambeau Field at 3-1 after beating the Jets 23-12, while Green Bay improved to 2-2 with a 17-14 win at Tampa Bay. The Bears are now the clearer market favorite, with their defense and rushing attack carrying the strongest current form into the rivalry.
Tyson Bagent is expected to make his second straight start in place of Caleb Williams, whose hamstring injury continues to keep him out.

Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers prediction
Chicago's 59% market position reflects how well the Bears have adapted without Williams.
Bagent completed 25 of 34 passes for a career-high 268 yards against the Jets. Kyle Monangai rushed 30 times for 146 yards and two touchdowns, and Chicago finished with 492 total yards, 34 first downs and 42:45 of possession.
The defense was even more convincing. New York managed 157 total yards, seven first downs and went 0-for-7 on third down. Chicago generated three sacks and seven quarterback hits while consistently winning the combination of rush and coverage.
Green Bay's Week 4 win was less clean. Jordan Love completed 22 of 30 passes for 197 yards and two touchdowns, but the Packers committed two turnovers and 10 penalties for 68 yards. Tampa Bay stayed within three points despite starting rookie Jalon Daniels.
The Packers also lost linebacker Edgerrin Cooper to a season-ending Achilles injury. That is particularly important against Chicago because Cooper's range and tackling would normally be central to defending Monangai and D'Andre Swift.
Green Bay will turn to Isaiah McDuffie and Ty'Ron Hopper alongside Zaire Franklin. The group has experience, but replacing Cooper's speed and playmaking is not a simple one-for-one change.
Chicago's run game therefore becomes the first matchup test. Monangai is day-to-day with a thumb injury suffered late against the Jets, but Ben Johnson said Monday that the Bears expect him to be OK.
If Monangai plays, Green Bay has to stop the run without bringing safeties too aggressively into the box. Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III and Colston Loveland have all shown they can punish open space behind linebackers.
Green Bay's strongest case is quarterback stability and home field. Love is healthy, the reshuffled offensive line played its best game of the season in Tampa, and the Packers have enough downfield receiving talent to test Chicago if they avoid the penalties and turnovers that have repeatedly stalled drives.
The Bears deserve the edge because they are winning in more repeatable ways right now: defense, third-down efficiency, possession and the run game. Green Bay needs a cleaner offensive performance and an immediate answer for Cooper's absence.
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers odds
Chicago Bears win: 59%
Green Bay Packers win: 42%
Market data as of October 6, 2026.
The market has moved further toward Chicago. Bagent's strong first start, Monangai's rushing performance and the loss of Cooper all support the shift, while Green Bay's home-field advantage and Love keep the Packers within range.
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers game outlook
Chicago should begin by testing the middle of Green Bay's defense.
Monangai has become a volume back capable of carrying long stretches of the offense. His 146 yards against New York came behind a Bears line that consistently created manageable down and distance.
Swift provides a different threat as a receiver and outside runner, although Chicago will want a cleaner ball-security performance after his Week 4 fumble.
The Packers' replacement plan at linebacker will determine how aggressively the Bears can stay with the run. If McDuffie and Hopper handle the early downs, Green Bay can keep its safeties deeper and force Bagent to sustain longer drives.
Bagent's job is to remain within structure. He threw one interception against New York but otherwise operated the offense cleanly and avoided the negative plays that had hurt Chicago earlier in the season.
Green Bay's offense needs the same discipline.
Love played well enough to win in Tampa, but penalties, dropped passes and turnovers repeatedly wiped out productive possessions. Against a Chicago defense that ranks among the league's best on third down, those mistakes become even more expensive.
The Packers did show more life on the ground. Kaleb Johnson and Chris Brooks both produced explosive runs, and the offensive line was more physical despite injuries and a new combination at guard.
Green Bay needs that balance because Chicago can make a pass-first offense uncomfortable. Dennis Allen has mixed four-man rushes with pressure while keeping coverage tight enough to shrink the throwing windows.
The Packers' best script is a balanced game in which Love reaches play action and avoids obvious third-and-long. Chicago wants to control possession, test the weakened linebacker group and force Green Bay to chase the game.
Team news and injuries
Chicago Bears
Tyson Bagent is expected to make his second straight start in place of Caleb Williams. Ben Johnson confirmed Monday that Bagent is the expected starter against Green Bay.
Williams remains sidelined by the hamstring injury he suffered in Week 2.
Kyle Monangai is day-to-day with a thumb injury suffered late against the Jets. Johnson said the Bears expect him to be OK, but his practice participation will still be worth monitoring after a 30-carry workload.
Braxton Jones has been placed on injured reserve with a knee injury, leaving Chicago to continue with its adjusted offensive-line configuration.
Green Bay Packers
Edgerrin Cooper's season is over because of an Achilles injury suffered against Tampa Bay.
Isaiah McDuffie and Ty'Ron Hopper are the next linebackers up alongside Zaire Franklin. Their ability to handle Chicago's run game will be central to the matchup.
Jayden Reed is also on injured reserve and set to miss the remainder of the season after neck surgery.
Aaron Banks and Jacob Monk missed Week 4, forcing Green Bay to reshuffle the interior offensive line. Laken Tomlinson and Travis Glover filled the guard spots, while veteran Kevin Zeitler is expected to become part of the mix as he gets up to speed.
Key factors that could decide Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers
Can Green Bay replace Edgerrin Cooper against the run?
This is the most direct football question in the matchup.
Chicago's offense is built to keep feeding the run when it is working. Monangai has shown he can handle volume, while Swift creates stress on the edges and in the passing game.
Green Bay needs McDuffie, Hopper and Franklin to fit the run cleanly without forcing the safeties to overcommit.
Can Tyson Bagent repeat his Week 4 efficiency?
Bagent does not need to carry Chicago through 40 throws.
He needs to protect the football, make the quick throws available and punish Green Bay when the defense sells out to stop the run.
His 268-yard performance against New York showed the offense can stay productive with him under center.
Can Green Bay eliminate the self-inflicted mistakes?
Ten penalties and two turnovers nearly cost the Packers against Tampa Bay.
Chicago is less forgiving because its defense has been excellent on third down and its offense can drain possession with the run game.
Green Bay needs a much cleaner game from the opening drive.
Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers head-to-head
Chicago won the most recent meeting 31-27 in the NFC Wild Card round in January 2026.
The Bears erased an 18-point halftime deficit and scored 25 fourth-quarter points to eliminate Green Bay. Chicago had also beaten the Packers 22-16 in overtime in the final regular-season meeting at Soldier Field.
Green Bay won the most recent meeting at Lambeau Field, 28-21 in December 2025.
The recent series therefore gives both teams relevant evidence: Chicago has won the two most recent meetings overall, while Green Bay still has the latest win at Lambeau.
What could move Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers market price before kickoff?
Monangai's thumb is the clearest Chicago injury variable after his 30-carry Week 4 workload.
Bagent is expected to start, so the quarterback uncertainty has narrowed considerably compared with the previous market snapshot.
For Green Bay, the first full practice report will show whether Banks or Monk can return to the offensive line.
The linebacker rotation is also critical. Cooper is definitely out for the season, so any additional limitation at that position would make Chicago's rushing matchup even more favorable.
