The Cavaliers scored 119.5 points per game last season to Brooklyn's 105.9, and Mitchell led them at 27.9. Harden gives them a second creator who averaged 7.7 assists in his 26 games with the team.
The vulnerability is on the glass. Orlando grabbed 54 rebounds to Cleveland's 38 in the Cavaliers' final preseason game, and coach Kenny Atkinson has said rebounding is a concern heading into the season.
Brooklyn's route runs through shot-making and second chances. Porter scored 27 points with four three-pointers in the preseason finale, and Egor Dëmin added four more. Brooklyn's defense is the bigger question, because Miami scored 62 points in the paint to the Nets' 38.

Brooklyn Nets at Cleveland Cavaliers game outlook
Mitchell has said Cleveland flipped its guard-big pairings this preseason: he is working more with Allen, and Harden more with Mobley.
Start with the Mitchell and Allen pick-and-roll. If Brooklyn's center steps up to stop Mitchell, Allen, who shot 63.8% from the field last season, can roll into the space behind him. If the center stays back, Mitchell has room to shoot or pass into the pocket. Sharpe started at center in the preseason finale and would face that choice on most possessions.
The Harden and Mobley action is the second test. Mobley averaged nine rebounds and 18.2 points last season, and Harden can look for him on the roll or pass out to shooters. A possible Brooklyn response is to send help from the corner, though no plan has been announced.
Brooklyn's counter starts with Randle's passing. He had five assists in the finale, and when he draws a second defender, Porter, Egor Dëmin and Moritz Wagner are positioned to punish it. That trio combined for 11 three-pointers on 18 attempts against Miami.
Cleveland shot 11 of 35 from three in its own finale and 36% last season. If its spacing tightens, the Nets can leave shooters to crowd Mitchell and Harden.
Team news and injuries
Brooklyn Nets
ESPN lists Tyler Bilodeau (shoulder) as out. Mikel Brown Jr. came off the bench in the preseason finale and scored 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting.
Brooklyn hosts Indiana the next evening, which creates a minutes decision for Jordi Fernández. If he trims Porter or Randle on Saturday, Wagner and Nolan Traoré, who each played more than 22 minutes in the finale, would absorb scoring.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Atkinson said Nae'Qwan Tomlin did not practice Monday and Sam Merrill was limited. Khalifa Diop is recovering from a setback, and ESPN lists all three as day-to-day.
Merrill missed the preseason finale with elbow soreness and attempted 7.2 three-pointers per game last season, second among Cleveland players behind Mitchell. If he sits, Jaylon Tyson and Mario Hezonja carry more of the second unit's spacing.
Expected starting lineups
Brooklyn Nets lineups
Projected starting five:
Keon Ellis
Egor Dëmin
Michael Porter Jr.
Julius Randle
Day'Ron Sharpe
This projection follows the five that started the preseason finale and assumes all five are available. Traoré, Wagner and Brown all played off the bench in the finale, so a change at guard or center most likely comes from that group.
Cleveland Cavaliers lineups
Projected starting five:
James Harden
Donovan Mitchell
Peyton Watson
Evan Mobley
Jarrett Allen
This projection follows the five that started the preseason finale and assumes all five are available. When Harden missed the preseason opener, Tyson joined the starters. Tyson and Hezonja were Cleveland's two busiest reserves in the finale.
Key factors that could decide the Brooklyn Nets at Cleveland Cavaliers game
Can Cleveland rebound better than it did in the finale?
Atkinson's rebounding concern showed up in the finale, and Brooklyn has players who attack the offensive glass. Randle and Sharpe each had three offensive rebounds against Miami. Every one extends a possession for a team trying to fix its rebounding.
Can Brooklyn defend the paint against two big-guard pairings?
Fernández called the finale "a very poor defensive game." Mobley and Allen give Cleveland two finishers who attack from different angles. Brooklyn has to protect the rim without leaving shooters open.
Who supplies the spacing if Cleveland's bench changes?
Cleveland shot 36% from three last season, and Merrill took more attempts than anyone on the team except Mitchell. If Merrill is limited, Tyson and Hezonja have to give the starters enough room to work.
What could move Brooklyn Nets at Cleveland Cavaliers market price?
News on Merrill, Tomlin or Diop would change how Cleveland's second unit looks. A decision to rest or limit a Brooklyn starter ahead of Sunday's game would also change how many minutes Porter and Randle share with the young guards.
The starters each team uses in its first game will also matter. Cleveland's lineup on Thursday and Brooklyn's on Wednesday will show whether the preseason finale groups hold.
