Arsenal enter the international break needing a response after a 3-0 defeat to Brighton ended their perfect Premier League start. Their previous league run had been built on control and defensive stability, but Brighton disrupted that rhythm by forcing turnovers and winning enough individual battles to prevent Arsenal from establishing sustained pressure.
Leeds arrive with a very different form line. Daniel Farke's side are unbeaten through five league games, with two wins and three draws while conceding only three goals. The latest was a 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace, after a 4-1 win over Newcastle and a 1-1 draw at Brighton.

That is clear-favorite pricing, and there is strong evidence behind it. Arsenal are the reigning Premier League champions, have considerably greater squad depth and won both meetings with Leeds last season by wide margins. Their defeat at Brighton was also the first league loss of the new campaign rather than part of an extended run of poor results.
The strongest argument for caution is availability. Christos Tzolis and Kai Havertz are set to miss the game, while William Saliba remains sidelined. Declan Rice, Ben White, Piero Hincapié and Cristhian Mosquera have been working back toward availability, and Ezri Konsa returned from England duty for assessment after picking up a knock. That leaves Arteta with unusually many decisions across the front line and defense.
Leeds also offer a more credible defensive test than last season's head-to-head scores suggest. Farke's 3-5-2 gives them three central midfielders in front of a back three, with Jayden Bogle and Gabriel Gudmundsson providing the width. Against Brighton, Leeds had only 34% of possession but generated almost identical expected-goal quality, an example of how quickly they can turn a lower-possession game into worthwhile chances.
The biggest uncertainty is therefore Arsenal's starting structure rather than Leeds' basic plan. Whether Rice and Konsa are cleared, and how Arteta reconstructs a front three without Tzolis and Havertz, will determine how closely the team resembles the version the 72% price is built around.
Arsenal vs Leeds United prediction
Arsenal win — 72%
Draw — 19%
Leeds United win — 11%
The separation reflects Arsenal's stronger recent body of work, home advantage and dominant record in last season's two meetings. The draw sitting materially above a Leeds win also suggests the market sees containment as a more plausible route for the visitors than taking all three points.
Leeds' unbeaten start nevertheless gives that 19% draw price some footballing context. Their shape has been difficult to break down, and they have already shown that they can create chances without controlling possession. Soccerzz
Arsenal team news
Arteta has recently used a 4-3-3 with Rice alongside Bruno Guimarães and Martin Ødegaard in midfield. That trio started the defeat to Brighton, while Bukayo Saka, Havertz and Tzolis formed the front three. Tribuna
Two of those forwards now need replacing. Tzolis suffered a hamstring injury on international duty and Havertz is also expected to remain sidelined, making Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyökeres the most natural candidates to come into the attack. Saliba remains out with a back injury.
The defensive picture is less settled. Konsa had started alongside Gabriel before leaving the England camp with a knock, while White, Mosquera and Hincapié have all been progressing toward availability. Rice's fitness also needs monitoring after England released him from international duty, although reporting around the problem has indicated no major concern.
Leeds United team news
Leeds have settled into the 3-5-2 that helped Farke reshape the side last season. Against Crystal Palace, James Trafford started behind a back three of James Justin, Nico Elvedi and Tarik Muharemović, with Bogle and Gudmundsson as wing-backs. Anton Stach, Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka formed the midfield, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin partnered Noah Okafor.
Joe Rodon remains unavailable after suffering a hamstring problem, while Mateo Joseph is a longer-term absentee. Harry Wilson has also been recovering from a thigh problem and missed Wales' current international window, leaving his involvement against Arsenal uncertain.
Farke does have attacking options from the bench. Brenden Aaronson and Daniel James were the first two attacking changes against Palace, with Lukas Nmecha following later, but the existing starting shape gives Leeds greater central security for a game in which long spells without the ball are likely.
Can Arsenal replace Havertz and Tzolis without losing their attacking balance?
Arsenal's most recent league XI used Havertz centrally and Tzolis from the left, so losing both at once changes more than individual personnel. Gyökeres offers a more conventional penalty-area reference point, while Eze naturally wants to drift inside and combine. That can increase central creativity, but it places more responsibility on Calafiori to maintain width and on Saka to stretch Leeds from the opposite side. Tribuna
Can Leeds' midfield three stop Arsenal playing through the center?
Stach, Ampadu and Tanaka give Farke numbers in the middle without sacrificing the protection of a back three. Their challenge is deciding when to step onto Ødegaard and Guimarães without opening space behind them.
If Leeds stay too narrow, Arsenal can move the ball toward Saka and force Gudmundsson or the left-sided center back into repeated wide defensive actions. If they jump too aggressively, Rice and Arsenal's two attacking midfielders have space to play beyond the first pressure.
What happens when Leeds beat Arsenal's first press?
Leeds do not need long spells of possession to threaten. Their draw at Brighton showed that a low possession share can still produce comparable chance quality, with Calvert-Lewin and Okafor giving them two central targets and the wing-backs providing the next wave.
That matters after Arsenal's Brighton defeat, when loose possession and lost duels repeatedly prevented Arteta's team from controlling transitions. Leeds' clearest route to creating pressure is likely to come from those moments rather than extended buildup. Tribuna
Can Arsenal turn set pieces into another advantage?
Set pieces were particularly damaging for Leeds in the clubs' previous meeting. Arsenal won 4-0 in January, and Farke acknowledged afterward that his side had conceded too cheaply from dead-ball situations. BBC
Gabriel remains a major aerial presence, while Arsenal can still field considerable size around him. Leeds' back three gives them extra bodies to defend the box, but avoiding unnecessary corners and wide free kicks will be important if they are to keep the game compressed.
Which version of Arsenal appears after the Brighton defeat?
The Brighton result matters less because of the scoreline than because of how Arsenal lost control. Arteta's side were unusually loose in possession and struggled in duels, preventing them from sustaining the territorial pressure that usually protects their defense.
Leeds' compact shape will test whether that was an isolated bad performance or something they can reproduce. An Arsenal side able to circulate quickly around the back five presents a very different problem from one forced into repeated turnovers and transition defending.
Arsenal vs Leeds United head-to-head
Arsenal won both Premier League meetings last season emphatically. They beat Leeds 5-0 in August 2025 before winning the return fixture 4-0 in January 2026.
Those results help explain the size of the current market gap, but Leeds arrive in different circumstances. Their 3-5-2 is now established, several positions have changed and they have opened this league campaign unbeaten. The recent head-to-head therefore supports Arsenal's favorite status without removing the tactical questions posed by the current Leeds side.
What could move Arsenal vs Leeds United market price before kickoff?
Arsenal's confirmed lineup is the most obvious live variable. Clarity on Rice and Konsa would reduce two of the largest fitness uncertainties, while the availability of White, Mosquera and Hincapié could materially change the defensive options around Gabriel.
The front three also matters. Tzolis and Havertz being unavailable forces Arteta to alter the combinations used in Arsenal's latest league start, so confirmation of Eze and Gyökeres alongside Saka would establish how aggressively Arsenal intend to attack Leeds' back five.
For Leeds, Wilson's fitness is the main late availability question. Otherwise, the key signal will be whether Farke retains the midfield-heavy 3-5-2 used against Palace or makes a more attacking selection involving Aaronson or James.
