Prediction markets make Real Madrid 71% favorites, but Betis have avoided defeat in the last four home meetings and carry enough attacking threat to resist.

Betis vs Real Madrid odds

Real Madrid have opened the season with three wins, 10 goals and a recognizable José Mourinho stamp. They press high, attack quickly once the ball is recovered and have given Jude Bellingham the freedom to arrive around Kylian Mbappé rather than confining him to a conventional midfield role.

Betis offer a more complicated test than their 5-2 defeat to Levante might imply. Manuel Pellegrini's side won their first two league games, and the attacking line of Antony, Isco and Rodrigo Riquelme can cause problems if Madrid's pressure is broken.

The concern is what happens behind them. Levante repeatedly punished defensive errors, and Mbappé arrives in precisely the form to do the same.

Madrid deserve clear favoritism. They followed victories over Espanyol and Real Sociedad with a 4-0 win over Málaga, and their attacking structure already looks more coherent than it did for much of last season. Mbappé has four goals in three league games, while Bellingham has been released to run beyond the ball and combine close to the striker.

That pairing is only part of the problem for Betis. Vinícius Júnior stretches the left side, Arda Güler can drift in from the right and Federico Valverde supplies carries and counter-pressing through the center. If Pellegrini's midfield is pulled apart, Madrid have too many routes into the penalty area for the home side to protect every one.

Still, 71% does not make this a formality. Betis have taken six points from nine and have not lost any of their last four home league meetings with Madrid. Their latest defeat was alarming, but it was also unusually chaotic: Betis were level at halftime, equalized again just after the break and then conceded three times as individual mistakes accumulated. That is a warning rather than three games' worth of evidence.

Betis's best route is to escape Real Madrid's first wave of pressure and attack before the visitors can reset. Isco can drop toward Marc Bernal and Marc Roca to help connect the buildup, while Antony and Riquelme can carry the ball into the spaces left by advancing fullbacks. Cucho Hernández also offers more mobility across the front than a fixed target striker.

The risk is that Betis may need to play an unusually clean game for that plan to survive. Madrid have already shown how ruthlessly they can turn high regains into chances, and Mbappé needs little invitation once the defensive line loses its shape.

The draw deserves more respect than the Betis win because Pellegrini's side have repeatedly made this fixture awkward. But current form, finishing quality and Real Madrid's greater depth all point the same way. The likeliest outcome is a Real Madrid win, with Betis capable of keeping it competitive if their buildup holds up and the errors from Levante do not return.

Real Betis vs Real Madrid odds

  • Real Madrid win — 71%
  • Draw — 18%
  • Real Betis win — 12%

The market gives Madrid a substantial edge, reflecting a perfect start and an attack that has already scored 10 league goals.

The draw sitting six points above a Betis win is revealing. A disciplined Betis performance that frustrates Madrid is considered more plausible than the home side matching Mbappé and company over 90 minutes.

Real Betis team news

Pellegrini has consistently started from a 4-2-3-1, with the double pivot allowing Isco or Pablo Fornals to operate between the lines. The attacking roles are competitive. Antony and Riquelme have the clearest claims on the wings, while Isco's first start of the season against Levante strengthened his case to remain at No. 10.

The main decision is up front. Cucho Hernández started the first two league games before Troy Parrott was given his first full start against Levante. Parrott had a goal ruled out, created Marc Bartra's equalizer and showed he can occupy center backs, but Cucho's movement and familiarity with the system make him the likelier choice against Madrid.

Dani Ceballos completed his return to Betis on September 2. A meeting with his former club is an immediate storyline, although a place on the bench is more realistic than a start only two days after signing. Aitor Ruibal is expected to miss out, while Giovani Lo Celso and Diego Conde remain fitness doubts.

Real Betis predicted lineup

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Álvaro Valles; Héctor Bellerín, Marc Bartra, Natan, Fran García; Marc Bernal, Marc Roca; Antony, Isco, Rodrigo Riquelme; Cucho Hernández.

Real Madrid team news

Mourinho retained the same 4-2-3-1 for the opening wins over Espanyol and Real Sociedad, then changed five starters against Málaga. That rotation makes the away lineup look less mysterious than it first appears.

Dumfries, Ibrahima Konaté, Álvaro Carreras, Bernardo Silva and Güler are all strong candidates to return.

There is a genuine call at right back. Trent Alexander-Arnold assisted Mbappé against Málaga and gave Madrid an extra progression route with his long passing.

Dumfries offers more recovery speed and direct running, however, which may be preferable against Riquelme and a Betis side looking to counter into the channels. The fact Dumfries started the first two games gives him the narrow edge.

Aurélien Tchouaméni is close to returning from a muscle injury but has yet to play this season, and Mourinho has indicated he will not rush him. That leaves Valverde and Bernardo as the probable midfield pair. Endrick could make his first squad of the campaign, although Carlos Espí's three early goals have complicated the backup-striker hierarchy.

Éder Militão, Rodrygo, Raúl Asencio, Ferland Mendy and Thiago Pitarch remain unavailable. None of those absences should force a late reshuffle of the established first-choice structure, but the lack of Tchouaméni removes Madrid's most natural defensive anchor if Betis play through the press.

Real Madrid predicted lineup

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Thibaut Courtois; Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konaté, Dean Huijsen, Álvaro Carreras; Bernardo Silva, Federico Valverde; Arda Güler, Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Júnior; Kylian Mbappé.

Real Betis vs Real Madrid key matchup factors

Can Betis play through Madrid's first press?

Madrid's pressure was decisive in the 4-1 win over Real Sociedad. Valverde won the ball high before one attack, Bellingham created another goal after a recovery in the box and Madrid repeatedly accelerated once possession changed hands.

Betis need Isco to help their double pivot create a spare player rather than waiting for service behind Madrid's midfield. If they are forced into hurried passes from deep, the game will tilt toward the visitors very quickly.

Does Betis's defensive response survive Mbappé's movement?

Mbappé is not simply waiting between the center backs. He moves toward Vinícius and Bellingham to combine, then attacks the space created by their runs. That is awkward for a Betis back line whose distances disappeared against Levante.

Bartra and Natan must decide when to step out without opening the route behind them. The fullbacks also need protection from Antony and Riquelme. Betis can defend this well, but the concentration requirement is severe.

Which right back gives Madrid the better balance?

Alexander-Arnold's passing could move Betis from side to side and release Vinícius early. Dumfries changes the threat: he carries the ball forward, attacks the far post and has the speed to recover if Riquelme breaks the other way.

The choice will reveal whether Mourinho prioritizes control with the ball or protection against Betis's transition threat. Either option is strong. It is the effect on the rest of Madrid's structure that matters.

Is Cucho or Parrott the better striker for this game?

Parrott's physical presence would give Betis a direct escape from the press, and his full debut contained more promise than the final score suggests. Cucho is more practiced in Pellegrini's combinations, drifts naturally into the channels and should connect more smoothly with the three creators behind him.

Cucho looks the more likely starter. Parrott may be more dangerous later, once the game stretches and Betis need a different route into the box.

How much weight should Madrid's recent record at Betis carry?

Madrid have failed to win on their last four league visits to Betis. The latest ended 1-1 in April, when Betis equalized late and created enough pressure to make Madrid grateful for their goalkeeper.

That pattern matters because Pellegrini has repeatedly found ways to keep this fixture competitive. It should not outweigh Madrid's current superiority, but it explains why the draw is the more credible alternative to an away win.

Real Betis vs Real Madrid head-to-head

The teams split last season's league meetings in very different ways. Madrid won 5-1 in January, but Betis recovered from a goal down to draw 1-1 in April.

The broader location-specific trend favors Betis: Madrid have drawn three and lost one of their last four league visits. This Madrid side arrive with a new manager and several new starters, so the sequence is context rather than a forecast. It does show that Betis have made home advantage count against this opponent.

What could move Real Betis vs Real Madrid odds before kickoff?

Tchouaméni's status is the clearest Madrid variable. Even a place on the bench would strengthen Mourinho's options for protecting a lead, while another absence confirms that Madrid will operate without a specialist holding midfielder.

Betis still need final clarity on Lo Celso and Conde, as well as Ceballos's registration and immediate role. The confirmed lineups will matter most at center forward for Betis and right back for Madrid. Cucho versus Parrott changes the home side's route out of pressure; Dumfries versus Alexander-Arnold changes the balance between Madrid's passing range and transition protection.
