Levante vs Barcelona prediction

Barcelona's start warrants that confidence. Hansi Flick's side are the only team in La Liga with a perfect record after four games, and the numbers are emphatic: 17 goals scored, two conceded and contributions arriving from across a rebuilt attack.

Levante are not simply waiting to be overwhelmed. Luís Castro's team have five points, two consecutive clean sheets and a 5-2 win over Real Betis already behind them.

The problem is consistency. All five of their league goals came in that one game, and Barcelona are allowing very little at the other end.

This is mismatch pricing. Barcelona sit 70 percentage points above the draw and 74 above a Levante win, an assessment supported by the strongest early-season form in Spain.

Flick's side have won 5-0 twice, beaten Rayo Vallecano 5-2 and defeated Athletic Club 2-0.

Sunday's five-goal victory over Valencia was especially persuasive. Barcelona broke down a deep defense within six minutes, created chances throughout and had five goals from four different scorers.

The attack is no longer dependent on one route. Lamine Yamal can isolate a fullback or move inside to combine. Anthony Gordon has assisted in each league game, Fermín López keeps arriving beyond the forward line and Raphinha has scored six goals while operating as an aggressive, mobile No. 9.

Rodri's first start alongside Pedri added another layer of control behind them.

Levante's best argument is structural. Castro can defend in a compact 4-1-4-1, concede possession and keep runners available for the counterattack.

They had only 37% of the ball in Sunday's 0-0 draw at Málaga, yet matched their opponents for shots and clear chances. That ability to remain competitive without controlling possession is relevant here.

There is also evidence that Levante can hurt better-resourced teams. The 5-2 win over Betis combined set-piece threat, aggressive second-ball work and ruthless finishing. Roger Brugué scored twice, while Enzo Bardeli and Jon Ander Olasagasti supplied quality from midfield.

Still, one explosive performance sits beside three league games in which Levante did not score. Karl Etta Eyong's thigh injury removes a fast option from the front line, and new signing Petar Ratkov has not yet played for the club. Iván Romero can work the channels, but he will receive fewer openings against a Barcelona defense that has conceded only twice.

Barcelona's Wednesday Champions League game against Feyenoord is the largest uncertainty. Flick may rotate, and Levante have a full week to prepare. Yet the visitors can now introduce Gabriel Jesus, Karim Adeyemi and Dani Olmo without reducing the technical level of the attack.

Levante have enough organization and set-piece threat to make the opening phase uncomfortable. Over 90 minutes, Barcelona's pressure, width and superior bench should tell. The clear prediction is an away win, with the hosts' chances depending on defending the box exceptionally well and making one of their limited transitions count.

Levante vs Barcelona odds

  • Barcelona win — 82%
  • Draw — 12%
  • Levante win — 8%

The market treats Barcelona as overwhelming favorites after four wins and a combined goal difference of plus 15. Levante's solid five-point start has done little to narrow a substantial difference in attacking quality.

The draw sits four points above a home win. The more plausible resistance scenario is Levante keeping their shape and slowing the game rather than opening up, trading chances and outscoring the league's most productive attack.

Levante team news

Castro used a 4-1-4-1 in the goalless draw at Málaga, with Oriol Rey screening the defense and Brugué and Thiago Fernández dropping into the midfield line. It gave Levante protection through the center without leaving Romero completely isolated.

Etta Eyong missed that match and has since been diagnosed with a right-thigh muscle injury. No return date has been set. His absence matters because he offers direct running against a high defensive line as well as a different option from the bench.

Ratkov joined on loan from Lazio before the Málaga game and was named among the substitutes but did not feature. The 6-foot-4 striker gives Castro an obvious aerial outlet, particularly if Barcelona force Levante to play longer, but starting him after so little time with the team would be a significant departure from the current hierarchy. Romero remains the likelier No. 9.

The other decision is at right back. Nacho Pérez has started the last two league games, with Jeremy Toljan replacing him during both. That makes Nacho the favorite to retain his place, even if Toljan's experience and pace remain useful later in the game.

Barcelona team news

Flick's 4-2-3-1 has evolved around Raphinha as the central forward. The Brazilian's movement opens the penalty area for Fermín and allows Gordon and Yamal to attack from either side. With six goals in four league games, he has earned more than a temporary place at No. 9.

Gabriel Jesus made his Barcelona debut for the final 10 minutes against Valencia. He looked sharp enough to become involved again, but Raphinha's form makes another substitute appearance more likely than an immediate start. Adeyemi and Olmo are also pushing for places, giving Flick several credible rotation options after the Champions League opener.

Rodri completed his first Barcelona start on Sunday and should continue alongside Pedri. Frenkie de Jong remains out with a knee injury, while Roony Bardghji and Jesse Bisiwu are also unavailable. Gavi has returned to the squad but is not yet ahead of Rodri or Pedri for this matchup.

Eric García left the Valencia game after a collision with Rodri and is the main defensive doubt. He has already returned to training in a protective mask and will not play on Wednesday because of a European suspension, so he could be fresh enough to face Levante. Jules Kounde is the obvious replacement if Flick decides not to risk him.

Levante vs Barcelona key matchup factors

Can Levante's midfield stay compact around Pedri and Fermín?

Oriol Rey must protect the space between Levante's midfield and defense, but Barcelona make that job deliberately difficult. Pedri can draw pressure from deeper positions, Rodri can change the point of attack and Fermín constantly looks to run beyond the holding midfielder.

If Olasagasti and Bardeli step forward to help press, space opens behind them. If they stay deep, Barcelona can settle around the penalty area. Levante need the entire midfield line to move together.

Where can Levante attack Barcelona's high line?

The cleanest route is through Thiago and Brugué immediately after possession changes. Both wide players must recover defensively, but they cannot retreat so far that Romero has no support when Levante win the ball.

Etta Eyong would have been particularly useful here. Without him, Levante may need Romero to drift into a channel and hold the first pass long enough for Brugué to join. Barcelona's counter-press will try to end those attacks before they begin.

Does Barcelona's European game force meaningful rotation?

The four-day turnaround is the best reason to hesitate over an otherwise emphatic prediction. Yamal, Pedri and Raphinha are difficult to rest together, yet Flick now has enough attacking depth to change two or three roles without abandoning the system.

The confirmed lineup will show whether Gabriel Jesus or Adeyemi receives a first start. Even if both remain on the bench, their presence gives Barcelona a powerful second wave against tiring defenders.

Can Levante make set pieces count again?

Two of Levante's goals against Betis began with corners, including headers from Dela and Brugué. Ratkov also gives Castro a 6-foot-4 target if the game remains close late on.

Open play should favor Barcelona heavily. Dead balls are the area in which Levante can create a more even contest and bring Mandi, Dela and the midfield runners into scoring positions without first playing through the press.

Levante vs Barcelona head-to-head

Barcelona won both league meetings last season, but the away game was anything but routine. Levante led 2-0 at halftime before Barcelona recovered to win 3-2 through a stoppage-time own goal. Flick's side then won the February return 3-0.

Barcelona have won the last four league meetings. Even so, their last three trips to Levante have finished 3-2, 3-2 and 3-3. That history does not override the visitors' current superiority, but it reinforces the possibility that Castro's side can create chances if Barcelona lose control of the transitions.

What could move Levante vs Barcelona odds before kickoff?

Barcelona's Champions League game will provide the most important new evidence. The result matters less than the minutes given to Yamal, Raphinha, Pedri and Rodri, along with any fresh fitness concern. Eric's response to the facial injury will determine whether Flick retains the Valencia back four or brings Kounde in.

Levante need clarity on Etta Eyong and Álex Primo. Castro must also decide whether Ratkov is ready to challenge Romero from the start or is better used as a late target. Any sign that the new striker will begin the game would change Levante's buildup and set-piece threat, even if it would not erase Barcelona's clear advantage.
