Prediction markets make Brentford narrow 40% favorites over Liverpool, whose midfield suspension and attacking injuries complicate an already demanding away game.

Keith Andrews' side have gone six league games without defeat. Their latest point at Aston Villa required a response after falling behind, but the performance also showed a team willing to press defenders, attack quickly and send support beyond its striker.
Liverpool's 3–0 loss to Manchester City needs a more careful reading. All three goals came after Ryan Gravenberch's dismissal, and Liverpool had threatened before that turning point.
The immediate concern is what follows it: a suspended midfielder, several fitness questions and a European trip before they encounter one of the toughest away assignments on the Premier League calendar.

The home edge has a credible football basis. Brentford are unbeaten, have already beaten Chelsea at home and can threaten Liverpool through aggressive pressure and direct service into Igor Thiago. Gravenberch's absence removes one of the visitors' options for carrying the ball away from that pressure.
Still, four percentage points separate the teams. Liverpool retain Florian Wirtz's creativity, Bradley Barcola's ability to beat a defender and a back line capable of contesting Brentford's physical game.
Liverpool did apply pressure and create chances before the sending-off against City.
Brentford also have problems to resolve, particularly Kevin Schade's shoulder and Jannik Schuster's ankle. The central question is which side can preserve its usual attacking threat while replacing important pieces around it.
Brentford vs Liverpool odds
Brentford win — 40%
Draw — 26%
Liverpool win — 36%
This is narrow favoritism, with the Liverpool win much closer to Brentford's price than the draw is.
There is little room for a sweeping reputation-based argument in either direction. A change in the available attacking personnel could matter considerably in a market this tight.
Brentford team news
Schade was withdrawn against Villa with a shoulder injury; Schuster came off at halftime after an ankle issue. Andrews did not confirm either player's recovery. Aaron Hickey filled in at center back during the game.
Sepp van den Berg and Mathias Jensen had returned to the bench, while Dango Ouattara played as a substitute. That gives Andrews options without establishing who is ready for a full start. Nathan Collins was absent from the matchday squad after a calf problem. Mikkel Damsgaard also missed the game.
The club's confirmed pre-match sheet listed a 5-2-3: El Hadji Malick Diouf joined the defense, allowing Keane Lewis-Potter to supply width outside him. Vitaly Janelt and Yehor Yarmoliuk remained the midfield pair, with Mamadou Sangaré initially on the bench. The new signing is an option, rather than an automatic starter.
Liverpool's latest 4-2-3-1 put Víctor Muñoz and Barcola around Wirtz, with Lewis Koumas leading the line. Wataru Endo offers a specialist holding option alongside Alexis Mac Allister if Szoboszlai is not ready. The European team sheet will provide another test of that arrangement and of Iraola's rotation plans.
Brentford lineup
Brentford are likely to line up in a 5-2-3, with this projection using van den Berg and Ouattara while Schuster and Schade await fitness updates:
Goalkeeper: Caoimhín Kelleher
Right wingback: Michael Kayode
Right center back: Kristoffer Ajer
Central center back: Sepp van den Berg
Left center back: El Hadji Malick Diouf
Left wingback: Keane Lewis-Potter
Right center midfield: Yehor Yarmoliuk
Left center midfield: Vitaly Janelt
Right wing: Jaidon Anthony
Left wing: Dango Ouattara
Striker: Igor Thiago
Liverpool lineup
Liverpool are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1, assuming van Dijk is ready and Isak, Gakpo and Szoboszlai have not recovered in time:
Can Liverpool escape the press without Gravenberch's carrying?
Brentford's opening goal at Villa began with pressure on Tyrone Mings and a turnover won by Schade. That is a specific threat to Liverpool's first pass forward. Endo can offer defensive positioning, but replacing Gravenberch also requires someone to move possession through the first line of pressure. Mac Allister and Wirtz cannot both become isolated beyond it.
Does Thiago give Brentford a reliable way around Liverpool's pressure?
Thiago can receive a longer pass and bring a winger into the next action, allowing Brentford to bypass midfield rather than trade passes there. Liverpool's center backs must contest that first ball while the holding midfielders collect the loose one. Winning the header is not enough if Anthony or Ouattara gets the next touch facing goal.
Can Barcola turn Brentford's width into a defensive problem?
Wingbacks offer Brentford outlets, but their forward movement can expose the outside center backs. Barcola's most useful opportunities may come when Liverpool switch play quickly enough to catch Kayode ahead of the ball. That requires an accurate early pass and support from Koumas, rather than asking the winger to beat several defenders from a standing start.
How much does Wednesday change Liverpool's available XI?
The trip to Austria falls three days before this game. Liverpool can gain rhythm and test replacements, but they must also manage a squad with several unresolved fitness issues. Brentford have time to prepare specifically for Liverpool. Whether that preparation advantage survives their own injury problems is another matter.
What could move Brentford vs Liverpool odds before kickoff?
The first major update is Liverpool's LASK squad and the fitness response afterward. Isak, Gakpo, Szoboszlai and van Dijk require separate checks.
Brentford's updates on Schade and Schuster, plus van den Berg's readiness for a start, could alter both their formation and attacking options.
Gravenberch's absence is already confirmed; the uncertainty concerns how Iraola replaces him.
