Rookie running back Jeremiyah Love also gave the Cardinals better balance in his first start, carrying 21 times for 90 yards and adding a receiving touchdown. Arizona had scored only seven points against Seattle the previous week, so the more sustainable mix of rushing and short-to-intermediate passing was an important improvement even in defeat.
New York's strongest case is its defense. The Giants held Tennessee to seven points and 262 total yards in Week 3, with Jevon Holland sealing the game on an end-zone interception. Holland has an interception in each of the first three games, giving New York a consistent source of game-changing plays.
That unit now has to adjust without Burns, who tore his ACL against Tennessee and will miss the rest of the season. More responsibility falls on Abdul Carter and Kayvon Thibodeaux, and the timing is awkward against a Cardinals offense that protected Brissett well enough for 52 pass attempts in San Francisco.
The Giants' larger uncertainty is at quarterback. Dart is out for at least the rest of the regular season with a knee injury, leaving Winston as the confirmed starter. Winston completed 14 of 22 passes for 118 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions against Tennessee. New York has acquired J.J. McCarthy from Minnesota, but John Harbaugh has said Winston remains the starter while McCarthy learns the offense.
