Prediction markets make Chelsea 45% favorites at unbeaten Everton, but their revived attack still has to prove it can withstand pressure away from home.

Five goals against Bournemouth brought a welcome change of mood for Xabi Alonso. The more meaningful change was in the personnel: Moisés Caicedo returned to the starting midfield, João Pedro led the attack, and Chelsea looked better equipped to connect the two.
Everton offer a different examination. David Moyes' side remain unbeaten in the league, although Sunday's draw at Hull exposed defensive mistakes and missed opportunities.
Their threat is substantial enough to make Chelsea's recovery interesting rather than conclusive.

Chelsea's attacking quality supports the away edge. Cole Palmer can find the pass between midfield and defense, Morgan Rogers adds carrying power, and João Pedro gives those attacks a central reference point. With Caicedo back, there is also a stronger platform behind them.
But the previous away performance remains relevant. Chelsea lost 3–0 at Brentford, where crosses, dead balls and a loss of shape after conceding undermined their game. Bournemouth's consolation on Saturday came from a corner. One emphatic home win has not settled those questions.
Everton's clearest route is to make Chelsea defend repeated deliveries while using Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to keep attacks alive. The uncertainty is at Everton's own fullback positions: can Moyes protect those areas without surrendering the attacking width that makes his side dangerous?
Everton vs Chelsea odds
Chelsea win — 45%
Draw — 26%
Everton win — 31%
Chelsea's advantage over Everton is 14 percentage points. That is meaningful, but it still describes a competitive game.
Everton's win price sits above the draw. Their threat is not confined to slowing Chelsea down; the market leaves considerable room for the home attack to make the difference.
Everton team news
Vitalii Mykolenko missed Hull through injury, prompting Moyes to use Jarrad Branthwaite at left back and Michael Keane alongside James Tarkowski. That arrangement preserves defensive height but asks a center back to handle Chelsea's wide movement. Mykolenko's recovery is a genuine selection issue, not a confirmed return.
The latest starting XI also kept Harrison Armstrong beside James Garner in a 4-2-3-1. Hayden Hackney was a substitute; his reputation or transfer fee alone does not make him the next starter.
Dewsbury-Hall links midfield to Thierno Barry, with Brennan Johnson and Grealish supplying contrasting threats from the flanks. Barry scored at Hull but also missed chances. Moyes has to weigh continuity against whether Tyrique George's pace would better test Chelsea's left side.
Chelsea team news
Alonso's Bournemouth team sheet confirmed a 4-2-3-1. Josh Acheampong replaced Wesley Fofana at right back, Caicedo replaced Valentin Barco in midfield, and João Pedro returned in place of Danny Welbeck.
Caicedo and João Pedro were withdrawn after Chelsea established a commanding lead following their recent fitness issues. Their successful starts strengthen the case for retaining them, with Friday's update still relevant to their workload.
Jordan Henderson's passing gives Palmer and Rogers another supply line. Pep Chavarría provides width from left back, allowing Rogers to come inside.
That makes the balance behind an advancing fullback important against Johnson's running. Fofana and Roméo Lavia provide options if Alonso prioritizes a different defensive or midfield balance.
Everton lineup
Everton are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1, with this projection retaining Branthwaite at left back pending Mykolenko's fitness update:
Goalkeeper: Jordan Pickford
Right back: Ainsley Maitland-Niles
Right center back: James Tarkowski
Left center back: Michael Keane
Left back: Jarrad Branthwaite
Right holding midfield: James Garner
Left holding midfield: Harrison Armstrong
Right wing: Brennan Johnson
No. 10: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall
Left wing: Jack Grealish
Striker: Thierno Barry
Chelsea lineup
Chelsea are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1, provided Caicedo and João Pedro have no setback after their returns:
Can Chelsea protect the far post when Everton build sustained pressure?
Grealish can hold the ball long enough for support to arrive, while Maitland-Niles offers delivery from the opposite side. Barry gives Everton a target and Dewsbury-Hall can attack the next space. Chelsea's challenge is to track those arrivals without allowing Palmer and Rogers to become stranded too far from the ball when possession changes.
Does Caicedo give Henderson enough freedom to influence the game?
The partnership has a clear logic: Caicedo can recover ground and disrupt attacks, while Henderson moves the ball toward Chelsea's creative players. Everton can test it by pressing the receiver after the first pass rather than chasing every center back. If Chelsea escape that pressure, Palmer has the space to become the more serious problem.
Who exploits the space behind the fullbacks?
Pedro Neto against an improvised Everton left side is one of Chelsea's most direct attacking routes. At the other end, Johnson can run into the area Chavarría leaves when he advances. Both teams have a reason to attack there. The crucial distinction is whether the nearest midfielder can cover without opening a central passing lane.
Can Everton turn good positions into cleaner chances?
The 2–2 draw at Hull featured a Dewsbury-Hall header from Maitland-Niles' cross and a Barry finish after Everton intercepted a loose pass. It also left Moyes frustrated by opportunities that went unused. Against Chelsea, the timing of the delivery and the striker's first touch matter more than simply accumulating crosses.
Everton vs Chelsea head-to-head
Everton won the previous home league meeting 3–0 in March. That is useful context for the demands of this trip, although Chelsea were managed by Liam Rosenior and both squads have since changed substantially. It is not a direct forecast for Alonso's side.
What could move Everton vs Chelsea odds before kickoff?
Mykolenko's availability could materially change Everton's defensive shape. Confirmation of Chelsea's midfield pairing, Caicedo and João Pedro's readiness, and Moyes' choice between Johnson and George would also affect the matchup. The final team sheets will show whether both managers retain their latest combinations or adjust specifically to the opponent's wide threats.
